I missed dombrandt, was he one of the awful attempted tackles?
He was the last one that got handed off for going too high. Not the worst offender.

Second worst after the centres spacing. He's done all the hard work to get there and then goes upright and tries to grab. Just to easy to hand off.

Aren't both centres equally to blame? The scotch blocker is basically holding up a sign that the break is on.

Now that's lovely play. Dombrandt doesn't drop it and Marchant comes into the game as well.

You know what. I am so happily surprised by Ludlam since his debut. He’s having a stonking game today.

That was *lovely*. Farrell redeeming himself with some nice work as the second playmaker.

Feels sad to praise Ludlam for completing that 2 on 1 so competently, but he did it perfectly and there's many a previous England player that would've panicked and fucked that up.

True but I think he’s damned if he does and damned if he doesn’t. Impossible position to the put in. Surprised he’s even in position to attempt the tackle as a no8.

Marchant was as much to blame as Farrell with the spacing. Farrell shouldn't get done so easy but Marchant is far to wide so there's a massive gap.

Farrell really struggling off the tee, unusual.

The attacking structure looks much nicer doesn't it.

Fair.

So just one and a half of the tries and 0/2 off the tee.

That's what I mean, he's done a great job to get there in the first place and then it's just such a passive tackle attempt.

The angled run and actually catching the ball in the build up to the try was what I was wanting to see from Dombrandt. More of that please.

We’ve looked good, imo. We’ve given away a couple of crap penalties and 2 awful defensive mistakes. But we’ve played the game in the right places and with the right intensity

Much calmer, 15-man style already by Borthy's men.
Bossing the territory too.

Excellent play to get that last three. Scotland essentially unable to do anything.

For a large part we’ve played very slowly with static runners. We started brightly. Then hit attacking treacle. And then finished with pace and found it actually worked.

I’ve spent most of the half shouting at JVP to get the ball out and for the forwards to get into position.

A lot of new structure for the players, taking a little bit of time to bed in. Clunky in places but we seem to look more like a team than in the Autumn. Just need things to continue slotting into place in the second half.

When we do we look good and cause problems. But this is a significant level down from Ireland.

Have you noticed he's looking for Smith? Smith is calling which sides to go and where he wants the ball but either JVP is struggling to hear him or Smith isn't making the calls early enough. That relationship seemed to improve over the half, whether an adjustment was made or not I'm not sure.

There doesn’t look like a lot of structural change. Certainly in attack so far. But I wouldn’t expect big change yet as the coaches have only had a couple of weeks with them. Changing majorly this early would be brave.
