I was going to post Hendersons retirement, but silence seemed more appropriate.

New signing coming up. Think it might be that Sam Thompson fella.

The Fijian must have fallen through then? Availability wise this is a better signing.

My only concern is he is the smallest lock Glasgow have (Inc Low) and he doesn't appear to be as handy with the ball as Nakarawa.

Hopefully a good addition.

6ft 7", and 17st 5lb? He's got the height and the frame, if he hasn't bulked up at the shorks he certainly will this summer. He's better than a lot of locks ball in hand, more time here will only improve that.

17st 5 is light for a second row. It just stood out when i looked him up.

It is, but in the pro conditions available, he won't stay that weight.

Bristol will have money to burn and as HP has noted before elsewhere Hoggs agent isn't the best so I can see him being in Hoggs ear.

Would be shocked if he left now and went there though.

IIRC he is entering a contract year and wouldn't surprise me if he left then and had a few clubs after him and became the highest paid Scots player.

Neither can I. It wouldn't be career suicide, but it would hurt medium/long term. Then again, his agent has shown he doesn't think that far ahead.

In all likelihood it s brizzle poster who knew about one signing has played off this fact to go on the wind up. It happens. Frillage of PR once made a joke about Ihaia West being SQ, 606 were still repeating it months later.

So Hugh Blake is off to Bay of Plenty on loan. Any idea why? Would have thought this was a make or break season for him.

Back pre Nov internationals. May be to give home game time will be interesting to see if this is at centre or back to back row? Toonie always seems to have a plan. Thought he was excellent for the 7s in Paris and London

That looks like most of the squad doesn't it? How did that happen?

Given that most rugby contracts are 2 years long; with the occassional 3 year and odd 1 year; you'd surely expect about half the squad to be renegotiating each year.

That's a seriously large number of people. It looks like too many were signed on 2 year deals, rather than 3.

Whilst true, perhaps criticism is merited in so much that they have managed contracts that allow position groups to be up at the same time:
  • Both TH and LH depth, only Allan, Fagerson and Firth are not in a contract year.
  • Both preferred No.8's
  • 2 of the 3 senior 9's
  • All (?) senior centres
  • At least 2 of the first choice back 3, and both senior full backs.
The reality is that most will re-sign but for some of those the next contract will be one they'll be expecting decent money.

I think this will end up being well handled by the Warriors but think they'll need to move fast particularly for the centres and Seymour and Hogg who should have several clubs interested.

I would hope some of these have been dealt with already and the post I took the list from is out of date (was dated June).

List's accurate. Rossco keeps it well up to date. Bear in mind deals will likely already have been done but they'll string out announcing them through the season whenever they went to get the twitterati frothing.

Fairly sure if you go back you'll find that most if not all years we have the same chats about why so many are OOC. Nothing all that unusual. Some will go, there'll be much wailing until they realise the kid or random outsider who takes over is a gem.

Any mumblings about those likely to go?

No, but I think Bennett might be vulnerable.

Cammy Fenton is away to strop central for the season. Also going are Miller, Fraser, Robbins and one whose name escapes me.

Real shame IMO that Fraser and Galbraith are away down there. I'd have both involved in Edinburgh squads semi regularly.

But Solomons wouldn't. They're better off down south.
