Both really. It puts our game into context. I said at the time that it was two crap teams in a race to the bottom. We’re gonna get smashed but that’s a worry for Monday.Mikey Brown wrote: ↑Sat Mar 11, 2023 6:52 pm Is that England result an entertaining consolation or does it just make the prospect of France next week that much worse?

However bad it gets next week (and it will get really, REALLY bad) we'll be playing away, not suffering a record home defeat, and (probably) not our all-time biggest defeat in a competitive tournament.

It's not a consolation as Wales won.Mikey Brown wrote: ↑Sat Mar 11, 2023 6:52 pm Is that England result an entertaining consolation or does it just make the prospect of France next week that much worse?

That’s a good point. I meant more to the general mood and confidence of the Welsh team at the moment. It was a strange old win for you today, but that often seems to be the way against Italy.pompey-zebra wrote: ↑Sat Mar 11, 2023 8:06 pmIt's not a consolation as Wales won.Mikey Brown wrote: ↑Sat Mar 11, 2023 6:52 pm Is that England result an entertaining consolation or does it just make the prospect of France next week that much worse?

If Wales and France play like they did today next week, then France should win. But we'll worry about that next week.Mikey Brown wrote: ↑Sat Mar 11, 2023 8:31 pmThat’s a good point. Decent result for us today. Scoreline a bit flattering as we had the bounce of the ball, particularly for that flukey first try. Thereafter we kept ahead for the most part by making less mistakes than Italy.
That arm to the throat was totally a red, and would have been if the linesman hadn't worked hard to change the ref's mind (a 'push' not a 'strike'. Really??).
Webb was good value - imagine if the WRU hadn't locked him out of the national squad for years.
(It would have been nice to see Keiran Williams come on instead of North in the second half. Maybe next week???)
Enjoyed the annihilation of England. Not enjoying the prospect of the something similar in Paris next week. They can't play that well two weeks running can they??

Funny game. We look bereft of ideas behind. Totally clueless. Italy looked far better at times. Also how on earth was that not a red card for forearm to throat?

Some truly dismal tackling - 38 missed in total. Morgan and Owens our best, Grady, Dyer and Wyn Jones our worst. The centres misses 8 between them, succeeded in 9. Not good enough, and it showed. Imagine what France will do to us (no, I don't want to think about it).

I really hope the citing commissioner picks that one up and hands out a ban. That’s very dangerous play.Tuco Ramirez wrote: ↑Sun Mar 12, 2023 12:08 am Funny game. We look bereft of ideas behind. Just watching ScrumV. Don’t think Crowley will be sending the ref a Christmas card anytime this decade.
