Vern Cotter, who was said to be on the shortlist for the Leicester job, may be on his way to Top14 Perpignan (Perpignan v Leicester? Can't think why he would prefer Perpignan!)
That's a bit weird. Apparently he turned down the Fiji job because they wanted him to be based in France until the World Cup.
1. Moon - long term injury, unknown when he'll play again
2. LCD - off to France
3. Williams - off to France
4. Van Heerden - already returned to SA
5. Jannes Kirsten - off to SA
6. Dave Ewers - to Ulster
7. Grondona - already gone to Pau
8. Sam Simmonds - off to France
10. Joe Simmonds
11. Cordero - already gone to Glasgow
14. Nowell - off to France
15. Hogg - to retire
Just a 9 and some centres for a full 15 man team out the door. Painter in for Williams and some rumours LCD won't be able to take up his contract in France.

Stuart Hogg to retire at the end of the season.
Retiring at 31! Yeesh! And meanwhile Gopperth's planning on keeping going till he can play adults rugby with his grandkids.
Bold decision though - going out on his own terms, at his peak, not seeking a pension-grab in Japan or a sunny sojourn in Perth or San Diego. Gotta respect it.
He's said something about his body letting him down so he's probably been playing with some niggling issues and doesn't want to risk messing himself up long term more than he already has.
Rumours that Tigers might look for an injury dispensation lock. Chessum out for the season, Green hasn't played since early Jan when he went off early Vs Falcons. Wells hasn't played much and was missing from the team at the weekend. If Wells injury is serious it would leave Martin, Henderson and Snyman to the end of the season. Personally I'd quite like to see Chessum Jnr given a go but one more injury when Tigers are still fighting on two fronts and then it's very much relying on Chessum Jnr or Tom Manz.
I wonder if Rory Arnold fancies a quick two month sojourn pre world cup. Sadly I don't think Tigers would have the cash for that.

Launch?
Gods, that'd be ideal. Both from a Leicester perspective, and from a giving him a shop window to show he's capable of stepping up for England perspective. Don't see it happening though - Japanese league runs right the way through until May, so I'd imagine he's tied in.

I doubt we'd be able to pay more than he's getting in Japan. It would get him back in the Prem and make him easier to see for Stevie B. With Tigers backrow being what they are as well his lineout jumping issues won't be highlighted but his maul strengths will.
Mike Brown and Cam Henderson have signed new deals. Given the form of both in the last couple of months two good deals for the club. Fingers crossed Tom West is up next. Maybe we'll get news on the injury dispensation?
It's a position Tigers have needed some spark since Nadolo left. Watson has done alright but prefers to be on the other wing which hasn't helped the balance. OHC should bring pace and power to the attack and we can go back to trying to work one on one chances for our left winger again.

Mike Brown....fair play, he has looked very solid, esp for someone who hadn't played for a while.

It's a bit reminiscent of Ashton last season. The period out of the game has helped his body recover and the hunger to prove those that wrote him off wrong is strong. He's played a lot better than I thought him able to, played a significant part in the improvements on attack.
I'm hopeful he'll be imparting a bit of his wisdom and experience on to Steward as well (who it's easy to forget is only 22 and only in his second full season of adult rugby). Good re-signing that.

.....its just a bit of a worry that these old stagers can stay in the game and resist the threat from younger players. Its great for him though.

I think it was Gopperth who said after one of the games that the old guys haven't got the speed anymore but they know what positions they need to be in to take the pass and the offload and that they all know each other will be there when the pass or offload in thrown. Looks like they've got some freedom to play and are running with it.
