Looks like Tigers are wrapping a few in cotton wool ahead of the playoffs. Somewhat surprised to see Carnduff on the bench though which does raise the real concern that Snyman and Martin aren't being rested. Disappointed not to see Dolly getting more game time. I hope this won't be squad for the Sale game.

I mean if Martin is being rested why would he be on the bench?
Also Snyman is off the game is a semi dead ringer for tigers so might as well play a young lad

Because the young lad is 19 and not big enough to play second row yet. He'd do a job for us at blindside certainly. I'm slightly non-plussed as to why Chessum Jnr isn't on the bench unless the plan is to pull Liebenburg and Weise early in the second half.

Ashton's rugby career possibly over already, as he gets a red card just before half-time for a high tackle.

Second card of the game for Tigers. Henderson giving away a penalty try early doors though some of the fans on the offy thing that had the ref been on the other side of the maul a different result might have been reached. Then again the offy isn't exactly known for being objective.
Shame for Ashton to finish his career like that yet somehow fitting to break the try scoring record in his penultimate game and then get sent off in the final one. Discipline hasn't always been great for him.

Having seen the replay it's an obvious red though Murley does a number on himself by driving his head up straight into Ashton's shoulder.

It’s perfect IMO. I’ve had so much entertainment from watching him. What else matters?

Him scoring against former clubs in the playoff and final would have been a perfect ending. Ideally the winning tries.Mikey Brown wrote: ↑Sat May 06, 2023 11:31 pmIt’s perfect IMO. I’ve had so much entertainment from watching him. What else matters?

Agreed. Finishing his career with a hat-trick of tries to get into triple figures and then to get sent off for a moment of stupidity is an almost perfect way to finish - the only way to better it would’ve been to do both in this final match. His career in microcosm.Mikey Brown wrote: ↑Sat May 06, 2023 11:31 pmIt’s perfect IMO. I’ve had so much entertainment from watching him. What else matters?
That said, will he definitely get a ban? Murley’s, I think, knee is only inches from the ground on contact…

I think he'll struggle as Murley comes in low and the drives up into the contact. Ashton starts high and stays high. Be a quick two week ban I'd have thought.
He's unlikely to make the play off squads unless there are injuries.

I think that's the crux. It feels a tad unfair as Murley was being tackled at the time, but the truth was that there was no sudden drop in height and Ashton was never low enough at any point. Fair cop, IMO.

Re: Tigers Vs Quins
Chris Ashton's red card rescinded, and quite rightly! It's pleasing and reassuring to read that Cadan Murley put his point of view forward at the hearing to help the correct decision to be reached.

Those must've been some highly exonerating extra angles, cause that looked a stone-cold red on initial viewing. Nice for him, although I'm not sure he'll be playing the semi, given his availability has only just been ascertained, and I'm worried about our odds of reaching the final.

Well that’s fucking weird. Tom Jordan in the URC just got 5 weeks for the most mundane ‘went in a bit too high on a player who was dipping a bit’ you’ve ever seen.
Was anybody even questioning the Aston red? Other than it would be great to see him get a nice send off.

Re: Tigers Vs Quins
The explanation in the decision says that additional angles not available live clearly showed first contact with the shoulder and then sliding up, which was corroborated by Murley. Obviously a case of the angle we got to see not showing the whole story.Mikey Brown wrote: ↑Thu May 11, 2023 10:56 pm Well that’s fucking weird. Interesting that Murley was allowed to put his side across. Would that still be the case if there was some handbags after the tackle?
