Bris v Glaws,

Post by jimKRFC »

Bristol:
15. Charles Piutau, 14. Siva Naulago, 13. Semi Radradra, 12. James William, 11. Ioan Lloyd, 10. AJ MacGinty, 9. Harry Randall (cc)
1. Yann Thomas, 2. Harry Thacker, 3. Kyle Sinckler, 4. Joe Batley, 5. Chris Vui, 6. Steven Luatua (cc), 7. Sam Jeffries, 8. Fitz Harding

Syubrs: 16. Will Capon, 17. Jake Woolmore, 18. Max Lahiff), 19. Magnus Bradbury, 20. Jake Heenan, 21. Andy Uren, 22. Sam Bedlow, 23. Noah Heward

23 might also be POC - there are two team sheets out (twitter one/offical site one).

Gloucester team:
15. Santi Carreras, 14. Jonny May, 13. Chris Harris, 12. Seb Atkinson, 11. Ollie Thorley, 10 Adam Hastings, 9. Stephen Varney; 1. Mayco Vivas, 2. George McGuigan, 3. Kirill Gotovtsev; 4. Freddie Clarke, 5. Matias Alemanno; 6. Jack Clement, 7. Lewis Ludlow (c), 8. Ben Morgan.

Replacements
16. Seb Blake, 17. Val Rapava-Ruskin, 18. Jamal Ford-Robinson; 19. Cam Jordan, 20. Freddie Thomas; 21. Ben Meehan, 22. Billy Twelvetrees, 23. Alex Hearle.

100th Cap for Thacker and the last game for a whole load of players (in both sides) at the club.
Looking at the sides then Bristol seem to have an edge - but looking at form then both sides will lose. High scoring draw maybe...

The battle for 8th looks set to be decided by the score in the Bath v Sarries IIIs though.

I expect Bath to collect 5 pts against Saracens reserves. If they win by a lot then Bristol will need to match that to get through on points difference.
Might make for a lively afternoon but yeah neither side are pulling up trees.

Bris did what they had to do and got the 5 pts but they couldnt control what team Saracens put out. They'll be disappointed but ultimately they havent done enough this season.
Thought Randall was very good. Sinckler looked miles off the pace.

VRR looked fairly handy off the bench. Could be a big boost for England to have him fit again.

Twas like he’d never been away. My MOM, his impact was terrific, in a thrilling game for the neutral. Atkinson is developing nicely. The league will be poorer for the loss of Radradra, bloke’s a magician.

Only if we use him! Don't really get why we haven't

Genge and VRR would be the LH props most England fans would choose to be in the 23.

A fit Obano and a mentally healthy Marler could both change that equation though.

It's the battle for 5th choice that'd be the cripple fight

Obano has always been great in the loose but a little average at scrum time. I'd like to see him get another chance in the pre tournament squad though. Marler's form hasn't been his best recently, he's still England's strongest scrummager. Currently I'd go with Genge and VRR.

Despite him not being quite the player he was a few years back Mako would be fifth before the cripple fight below him.

Obano's scrummaging hasn't been any sort of issue on his latest comeback (NB: I'm a SH, so don't trust my word on it); though he's not had the sternest tests either (decent enough, but not the sternest).
I'd argue that Mako is definitely part of a cripple fight - too often exposed at international level for me.

Kloska did a number on him when he came on against him.

Hopefully Kloska will get more time next year.

Has Kloska moved over to the tighthead then? I thought he was going to be a loosehead when he swapped from hooker.

Was that the one where Obano left the pitch a couple of minutes before Kloska came on?
Because Schoeman's a bit... disappointing

Quite possibly (my memory is not what it used to be :-))* - just recall Bath getting done in the scrum..

*actually a lot of the past two seasons I am actively trying to forget.
