Just had this discussion with a friend. How is Barnes officiating Friday but not the show piece? The only thing I can think of is that the decision needed to be made prior to the semis.
There’s also the fact that it’s a farking hard job and most top flight refs are poor because of this. The powers that be are therefore picking bald men fighting over a comb.

Wasn't a great reffing performance, which is a shame for a final that's the pinnacle of the European club game. However, in his defence it was a game played at an unusually high tempo with two attacking and physical teams knock seven bells out of each other for 80 mins.

Agreed, I do think Tempo is high when he officiates.
