Ben Youngs was faultless.
If only his delivery on the pitch was as good as his halftime cameo with the microphone.

Rightly or wrongly, Sinckler, Hill, T Willis, Dan,Van Portfleit underwhelmed for me compared to the starters they subbed for..

14 carries for 14 metres and with 14 tackles for Martin.
Are you suggesting he replaces Malins?
 could it be worse?

We turned the ball over 23 times during that game. Be finished the game with more possession and territory. Just pathetically bad error count that killed us.

So that's toodle pip to Porter, Cockanasiga, Malins, Care, Dombrandt, Blamire - Just for starters. Never mind that the squad does not have one decent scrum half out of three.

Dombrant missed 3 of his 9 tackles and made 14 metres from 5 carries whilst we were dominant. Wasn't great. T Willis didn't make much of an impact but it's all a bit meh at 8 really.

Dombo is the wrong no8 for this team and coach. I think he’d look class playing in the, eg, France team but he isn’t. T Willy is the obvs Billy understudy, imo.

Fair enough re T Willis - I might be being a bit premature in my judgement, but he looks to be more of a workmanlike, grafting player rather than a particularly exciting one.

Didnt catch the opening half an hour but was unlucky enough to see the rest.

I mean fair enough its a warm up game with a scratch side, but jeez that was lamentably bad. We did nothing - not a sodding thing - of note while i was watching. We did lots that was rubbish but anything constructive, positive, eye catchingly good - nope.

One can only hope that the only way is up. tell me i'm right???

Fiji battered Japan 35-12 earlier. We'll lose all four warm ups at this rate.

Odds of Slick Bookcase surviving post WC can't be good.

Didn't Japan have a player sent off after about 10 mins?

You were the jinx then.

We dominated the first half. Made a ridiculous number of handling errors to shoot ourselves in the foot at key times. Then didn't turn up for the second half.

He wouldn't get close to making the French squad. His one line break came from a pass he over ran and luckily the ref missed. That accounted for most of his metres made. He'll be lucky to make the squad.

Scotland did alright despite that.

I think it’s a moot point at the moment what style of No.8 Skull Boater has in mind and on a spectrum ranging from S Simmonds to Billy I still think he may go for the flair as opposed to tight, wrecking ball approach but we’ll all see come Monday :)

Looks like I picked the right day to be at the airport and miss the game :)

Sounds like a truly fabulous shitshow of boredom and error.

Did anybody surprise us? I don't understand what SB got from the selection. SH, both wings, both centres, both locks, two of the back row all confirmed they weren't up to it but why waste international practice to confirm what he must already have known?

A full strength Scot side Vs France B and the red card happened well into the second half with Scotland having all the momentum. Was still very impressive from Scotland.

I didn't see the Japan game but I've seen it mentioned elsewhere it was a rotated side that suffered an early red card and so not to read to much into the result. We'll see how accurate that turns out to be. Fiji have always had bags of attacking talent.

We threw away two attacking lineouts in the first half (when we were on top IMO). One bsd overthrow, the second an absurd attempt to get an early wedge (?) which was correctly pinged by the ref.

It was extraordinarily inept.

Did I say that he’d make the France squad? I just said he’d look a lot better in a good team who play more on the front foot and with a more expansive game plan.
Glad we agree he’s unlikely to make the squad.
There’s more to a player than metres made.
