ITV prob won’t have any control over this I suppose so it’ll be French TV. It just struck me as odd because we’re normally bombarded with replays of dodgy moments. Prob a good idea so that the crowd don’t over influence the ref by seeing incidents on the big screen. We at home have the rewind button.

World Rugby will be in control of the coverage. If it was French TV we'd have had plenty of replays. They either need to split the feed or just suck it up because the lack of replays for most of the game was pretty annoying.Beasties wrote: ↑Sat Sep 09, 2023 6:49 amITV prob won’t have any control over this I suppose so it’ll be French TV. Seems like they got a provider that doesn't actually know anything about rugby. I am trying to see a replay of ioane's break in the lead up to the try and the official highlights prefer to show all the kicks at goal rather than any play.

Late in the 2nd half they showed stats including one that France had only conceded 4 penalties. France the ultimate example of good discipline! France!! What a job Edwards is doing.
If we have only conceded 14 by the hour mark, I'll be pleased.

How well they clear rucks in attack, how disciplined they are at lineout and scrum time. The French coaches have built a very well rounded side.

I replayed that at the time and it was just about a flat pass. Well, flat in the NZ sense of the word. The pass in the 2nd half on the other hand…..

I read somewhere, can’t remember where so not sure of it’s veracity, the lack of replays is a conscious decision as they don’t want them to influence the tmo who receives the tv feed in his bunker on a slight delay, iirc. I think the fact that the French producers are not known for their impartiality also influenced the decision.

I actually quite like it. Just keep the action rolling for the casual viewer. I was listening to quite a few non rugby fans yesterday saying they were having a bbq because of the heatwave then watching the rugby with some beers.

I can totally see why it might be a good idea for those reasons, just struck me as a bit odd and slightly annoying. Don’t know why they can’t just have 2 separate feeds though, one for stadium and one for TV.Mellsblue wrote: ↑Sat Sep 09, 2023 9:17 am I read somewhere, can’t remember where so not sure of it’s veracity, the lack of replays is a conscious decision as they don’t want them to influence the tmo who receives the tv feed in his bunker on a slight delay, iirc. Oh right, this is today isn't it. I sort of forgot after there was some really good rugby yesterday.

Normally, there would be a fair few posts with predictions. Is everybody just jittery?

Classic bit of Dallaglio punditry - 'I can't remember a bigger game than this'. You literally played in a WC final mate.

Just turned it on. Really odd looking card. England seem to make a habit of them.

It's the hope that kills you. Strong start to the game and then head on head contact and we're down a man and behind on the scoreboard.

Are they going to play any rugby or just show yellow card incidents?

I was late, and only saw the replay after it was upgraded to red. Which was a crap replay. Was it really a red card? From that angle it hardly looked like it.

Letter of the law it's red, but it does feel harsh.

Surely, we should bring Ludlam on for a back.
