How is that scrum penalty not a card if Fiji are marching toward the try line, when the Fijian was binned for collapsing a maul that was heading toward the try line?
It was so much easier to blame Them. It was bleakly depressing to think They were Us. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

Another warning for Wales. Carley is pathetic.

Fiji utterly rooked by Carley today. They could not catch a break, while Wales gave away so many penalties on their goalline without punishment and cheated in every single ruck. I mean, fair play, you play the ref, but Fiji were completely done over.

Wales conceded 17 penalties, 13 in their own half, and got 2 warnings for 1 yellow card.

Fiji conceded 9 with 6 in their half for no warnings (as far as I could hear) and 1 yellow.

Poor reffing performance.

Embarrassing from the officials. Tell them they aren't coming home until they redeem themselves.

Fiji still nearly did it inspite of the officials.

I'm sure the Fijian president will have some choice words for the World Rugby representatives. How on earth is the game supposed to grow with bullshit calls like that.

Consistency on head to head is already a farce. Curry gets red, the Chile captain gets yellow and then Kriel (Biggar now as well) aren't even reviewed.

think the biggest issue that caused Fiji’s loss was knocking on in contact and a terrible few mins straight after halftime. Not that Carley covered himself in glory in the second half.

Probably trying to even out the hyperbole from others.

It’s also not as good as ‘Dominator of the SHMB’.

Losing their flyhalf to injury before the world cup was a massive blow. No high percentage kicker meant they were always kicking for the corner or opting for the scrum. Couldn't just keep the scoreboard ticking over.

It was bizarre that he even called that up without giving a penalty try - there was no safety issue and they were heading to the line at a rate of knots.

Likewise, from a Fiji tap penalty he effectively "coached" Wales by asking Fiji to reset since Wales had moved from their line early. He should have allowed play to continue and then penalised them.

Totally bizarre refereeing performance and it must be very confusing for people watching who don't follow the game closely (especially as the ITV coverage is woeful)

Yep, big blow and not just for the kicking at posts. How many shots at the posts did Fiji turn down because of him? Lomani kicked after the first one until he went off - can’t find when that happened as the RWC app doesn’t seem to think it did.

These stats speak for themselves (p.s. is that a record number of tackles for any team in history?) and evidence the level of intervention needed for Wales to achieve a win.

At the best case it is bias based on a preconceived ideas and at worst it is more sinister...

Wales conceded thirteen penalties in their own half. Got to be a fair few in there that they could have slotted if they felt confident.

How many of those were when Fiji were two or three tries behind on the scoreboard?

No idea but comparably would have Wales chanced it quite so much if they thought Fiji had a reliable kicker who would knock three over every time they transgressed.
