Italy v Uruguay (Wed/Thur)

Post by Lizard »

Uruguay performed with great credit against France. They certainly look like one of the better T2 sides in the RWC (compare the huge scores conceded by Namibia and Romania - both more established RWC participants). Italy put away a poor Namibian side comfortably.

This is likely to determine the automatic qualifier from Pool A. Italy may have an interesting time in the qualifiers if they lose, which is a real possibility. Italy should get through, but I'm not betting on it yet.

Well, well, well, that is quite the half time scoreline, especially as Uruguay could have had more.

Great stuff!. Uruguay are all over them. Hope they can keep it up in the second half.

I remain mystified how Kriel and Biggar stayed on the pitch if that was deemed to be not only a yellow, but to be a bunker review as well.

That’s easy. They don’t play for a Tier 2 country.

Almost embarrassed for the ref and TMO for allowing that Italian try. Clearly dropped forward.

Italy have gone up a couple of gears here, and Uruguay aren't able to live with it.

Awful wasn’t it. At most a penalty. Really hate moaning about officials but that was far from a high class display by all involved.

Well that was fun while it lasted. Uruguay will be disappointed that they lost composure and made so many 2nd half errors.

So it was:
France 27 - Uruguay 12
Italy 38 - Uruguay 17

The obvious conclusion is that Italy is on course to beat France.
