Starting 10, not replacement (and why have a replacement 10 at all when you're staring 3 FHs?)

Henry Arundell: 7 passes, 5 kick returns! So yes, more caps than passes! Of those 12 carries he has passed twice, beaten 6 defenders and averages over 11 metres a carry!

I strongly suspect we’ll see Ford(10), Farrell (12), Smith (15) at some point. Marchant to 13, Daly to 11 and Arundell taken off after failing to secure the first three kick and chases. The last bit more tongue in cheek, but I’d bet a fair chunk on the three fly halves in the backline.Which Tyler wrote: ↑Thu Sep 21, 2023 6:35 pmStarting 10, not replacement (and why have a replacement 10 at all when you're staring 3 FHs?)

Hasn't Arundell played a fair bit at FB at U20 and club level? Certainly more than M.Smith anyway. This would have been a good game to give him a pretty soft/safe run at 15 with plenty of opportunity to get his hands on the ball.Epaminondas Pules wrote: ↑Thu Sep 21, 2023 6:50 pmI strongly suspect we’ll see Ford(10), Farrell (12), Smith (15) at some point. I mean he is really a fullback. We’re just playing him on the wing because… we can then play other people out of position too?
Has he played a single game on the wing for Irish? I mean he’s barely even played for Irish, but still.

No starts on the wing for LI. May have turned up there off the bench once or twice. The weekend will be his third start on the wing. All have been for England.Mikey Brown wrote: ↑Thu Sep 21, 2023 9:39 pm I mean he is really a fullback. We’re just playing him on the wing because… we can then play other people out of position too?

I'd say the fairest interpretation is fullback that has the as yet unseen potential to play wing at senior levelEpaminondas Pules wrote: ↑Thu Sep 21, 2023 10:03 pmYep! Yep. Willis is quite clearly bottom of the pecking order for the backrow. Anyone could project themselves in the first XV in theory, but that’s not much of a statement really.

Obv I was referring to the L Irish connection rather than the laughable idea of Watson ever being a FB.

Re: England vs Chile
if kicking out on the full, missing shots at goal and not nailing a drop goal v Chile cements your place for the knock out stages then anything is possible

Let's not tempt fate. We already know pundits occasionally scrape this site - that'll end up in Woodward next Daily Heil column.

Between entertaining the squad with his impersonations and rolling back the years Vs Argentina he's doing better than expected.
Tom Wood could still be called up if Lawes gets injured, would give us that third lineout option at 6...
