Wales - especially under Gatland - never hammer anyone. Even when we completely dominate, we usually win by 2 scores at most. This is uncharted territory. Yes it was there on a plate for us but that's been true before, and we've just taken our fill and politely left the rest behind. This time we cleared the plate, earned our dessert, and scoffed that too. Loving it.pompey-zebra wrote: ↑Mon Sep 25, 2023 10:58 am
And this is one of the things we've been crying out for- a comprehensive victory. How often have over the last 2 years or so have Wales been leading comfortably, only to let the opposition back in, regardless of the quality of that opposition? Yesterday they had Australia in a stranglehold for most of the game, and for once they didnt let go. Great to see!

Yeah, I do hate all that, wasn't Warburton saying that, world rugby needs a strong Australia? (Warbs always trying to expand his fan base with his crawling platitudes). As you say, no one ever said that about Wales.Sourdust wrote: ↑Mon Sep 25, 2023 5:55 pm Just like after Fiji, the after-match discourse is like oxygen to the flames of our Welsh persecution complex. Oh how sad, how awful for the game, rugby needs a strong Australia... FFS, Yeah I remember all those shaftings we've had from SANZAR over the years, and how everyone was so sad for us, and said it was a disaster for the global game, which needed a strong Wales... oh no, wait...

Well from now on we don't need to think about bonus points so it'll all be about taking the points, kicking for territory, building a lead, crushing the spirit of the opposition, for the full 80.Sourdust wrote: ↑Mon Sep 25, 2023 5:59 pmWales - especially under Gatland - never hammer anyone. Which is exactly how Ireland will beat us in the semi-final.Son of Mathonwy wrote: ↑Mon Sep 25, 2023 6:14 pm

And that's fair enough, the bastards.

Exactly. The Aussies will bounce back. I’m not losing any sleep over their next few months and years and the impact of rugby in that country. I doubt the Saes media would give a toss either if they had just done what we have.Sourdust wrote: ↑Mon Sep 25, 2023 5:55 pm Just like after Fiji, the after-match discourse is like oxygen to the flames of our Welsh persecution complex. Don’t think anyone saw that coming and anyone who thought the All Blacks would be a push over will need to think again. If you can disrupt them and not give them the space to play like that then it’s a different game, but Italy were totally butchered in that game.
