Re: Tigers Vs Quins
Should be a good game, Tigers still missing a few so the bench is looking pretty weak. Quins not starting all their returnees so there's by comparison much stronger. Tigers may well be facing a late onslaught in this one.
Montoya, Dolly, Heyes, Martin, Hatherall, JVP all confirmed out injured for this one. Few others may be injured or may be rotation will probably see next weekend.
Not available for Quins: Stephan Lewies, Cadan Murley, Luke Northmore, Will Joseph, Jack Kenningham

I would really hope Quins can make something of how one-paced that Tigers back division is.

Re: Tigers Vs Quins
Now that's a better looking side!
A bit of rotation in there still though. OHC and Shillcock are presumably rested, which is disappointing considering that I'd hoped we'd go full-bore to try and kick-start our season. Great news to see Matt Scott's recovery from injury though.
Van Wyk over Cronin is an interesting call. I'm no great fan of either, but Cronin is definitely the more famed of the two (given that he was signed ostensibly to replace Genge, a role in which he has utterly failed) and it's interesting that he's on the bench.

Weren’t Tigers rumoured to be signing an international northern hemisphere prop after the World Cup, or have I been dreaming?

Re: Tigers Vs Quins
There was a rumour that we desperately clung to as Puja mentions Cronin has been fine but isn't really a Genge style replacement. He'd be a really good second choice LH but as the first choice LH it's a bit underwhelming and van Wyk isn't exactly top drawer either. We need some new blood on the LH side really. I was disappointed we couldn't find the budget to acquire anybody from LI or keep West.francoisfou wrote: ↑Fri Nov 10, 2023 12:45 pm Weren’t Tigers rumoured to be signing an international northern hemisphere prop after the World Cup, or have I been dreaming?

The whole attack is pretty one paced really. Already rumours the attack coach won't last much longer.Mikey Brown wrote: ↑Fri Nov 10, 2023 12:11 pm I would really hope Quins can make something of how one-paced that Tigers back division is.
No OHC really does mean we are lacking pace as does the injury to Simmonds. Welford Road is a pretty small pitch so it might not hamper us that much though it's forecast to be a dry and bright day tomorrow so running rugby should be on the cards.

Backline is certainly missing a bit of magic without him.Mellsblue wrote: ↑Fri Nov 10, 2023 1:24 pmNo Potter no paceMikey Brown wrote: ↑Fri Nov 10, 2023 12:11 pm I would really hope Quins can make something of how one-paced that Tigers back division is.
He is one we'll miss, generally very underrated but did a lot of the hard work that helped others look good.

Not seen the game, was busy today, but Quins are proving very good value for the watcher this season. Good to see. Love it when we're our good old entertainer selves but still win.

Re: Tigers Vs Quins
Both teams were pretty good in attack today but Tigers were dire in defence and that proved the difference. Quins got a couple of tries they didn't really have to work to much for. Reffell pulling out before the game and Tempest having a hands off approach to the breakdown really allowed Evans to have a lot of fun (he was outstanding), Rogerson in at 7 as the last minute replacement was anonymous at the ruck in comparison. Ilione when he came on later in the game offered a hell of a lot more but showed his nativity by releasing the ball when knocked off his feet before the final Quins try, if he holds on he forces Tempest to make a decision and it's 50/50 whether he gets the penalty or gets pinged and it's never a yellow so was worth the gamble. Quins took that gamble plenty of times and it paid off for them.
The earlier posts about Cronin not being a great Genge replacement held up with him butchering the simplest of finishes a metre from the line and knocking on. I think he knocked it on every time he touched it in a particularly incompetent display.
Pollard was a class act. Having him back was huge for Tigers. Brown looked like he was still playing for Quins, slow cumbersome and generally a liability at the back to the point by the end of the game we'd stationed Steward back there alongside him.
