It seems that water companies take payment for adding chemical chemical and other waste (including polychlorinated biphenyls, dioxins, furans, phthalates, forever chemicals, antibiotics, huge quantities of microplastic and many other compounds) to their sewage plants and then sell the sludge produced as cheap fertilizer to farmers. We eat plants and animals grown or raised on such land. The impact on our health is unknown. This was documented in a 2017 Environment Agency report which was kept secret till Greenpeace discovered it, but the government has done nothing about the problem to date.

`This is the same government that too busy allowing water companies to pump shit into our rivers unchecked. Not a surprise.Son of Mathonwy wrote: ↑Sun Nov 19, 2023 3:37 pm It seems that water companies take payment for adding chemical chemical and other waste (including polychlorinated biphenyls, dioxins, furans, phthalates, forever chemicals, antibiotics, huge quantities of microplastic and many other compounds) to their sewage plants and then sell the sludge produced as cheap fertilizer to farmers. The watery stuff in the rivers, the sludgy stuff to the farms, it's a joined up strategy.Sandydragon wrote: ↑Mon Nov 20, 2023 8:57 pm`This is the same government that too busy allowing water companies to pump shit into our rivers unchecked.
