Name and shame

Lifetime ban, all rugby
100%. Get the facts, as far as possible, and throw the book.

Not that we should rely on this kind of statement, but Ugo doesn't strike me as the kind to make anything like that up. So there's clearly something there. Whatever it is needs to be established. There are clearly plenty of people who must have heard/seen something.

Awful
My only reservation from Monye's statement related to his inference that nobody helped him at the time. That is easy to say but one consequence of all the wokery is a legitimate concern about getting involved. Condemning from a distance on remote media means zilch. Standing up to be counted in public takes real nerve and commitment. I'm not sure how you condemn Mr Average for not having it.

Errr... what?

One of the consequences of being more aware of racism is a legitimate concern about getting involved when you see racism?

Or do you mean "one of the consequences of the war on wokery is a legitimate concern about getting involved" because the anti-woke are far, far more violent.

Wokery - whatever that is, is really neither here nor there. You would hope that this appalling racism was challenged as difficult as that may have been.
Hopefully the club will be able to identify the individual and some sanctions will follow.

Has there been any more detail about this from Monye? Was it someone actually addressing him or just shouting the word in a crowd? I don't get if the "mild scuffle" was between the suspect and Monye or not.

Chiefs have identified the fan on cctv. No other details. Apparently loads of fans have come forward with info so I'm pretty sure he will be dealt with.

I wouldn't get to hung up on ugo's statement on people not backing him up. He must have made that tweet very soon after it happened.

The 5Ds are different methods – Distract, Delegate, Document, Delay, and Direct – that you can use to support someone who’s being harassed, emphasize that harassment is not okay, and demonstrate to people in your life that they have the power to make their community safer.
