Re: Newcastle vs Exeter - Sunday
Big test for Brantingham up against Painter. Good to see Johnson get a start at 10.
Really settled look about Exeter. Would be nice to see a bit more of WH-W rather than a token 5 minutes at the end of a game.

Brantingham having a very strong game, Pepper outstanding, but gone off with what looks like a hip injury! Such a shame as he was having a belter!
Exeter seriously need to lower their tackle height!!

Looks like a cheap shot from Painter targeting him in the ruck!Epaminondas Pules wrote: ↑Sun Nov 26, 2023 3:51 pm Brantingham having a very strong game, Pepper outstanding, but gone off with what looks like a hip injury! Such a shame as he was having a belter!

Real pity Pepper went off. He was having quite a game.
Exe did enough in 2nd half as Falcons rarely threatened. Just get the ball to Radwan wouldnt be the worst attacking strategy they could adopt.

That really looks a horrible ground and pitch. Add the weather factor in and both teams deserve credit for a reasonable spectacle. I'd guess that's close to Newcastle's maximum. Exeter were mistake-ridden and lacking in their usual ruthlessness in the 22. There's probably a lot more to come from them once they build a bit more cohesion.
I wonder if there are stats for injuries on artificial pitches. Maybe there just seem to be more.

The floodlights are pretty low quality too.Quite a depressing venue all round.Oakboy wrote: ↑Sun Nov 26, 2023 5:27 pm That really looks a horrible ground and pitch. Feel for Falcons. The TMO missed loads in the first half. Second they just couldn’t get any momentum. Fair play Exeter. Just had too much.

I sort of know what you mean about the look. There is something about the plastic pitch and the lights and the angle of the overhead camera that make it looks like it's been snowing (?)
Anyway this was nice.

Talented lad, very good career. Can't help thinking he could have been a great 12. Have I said that before

I believe it's come up once or twice before, although it's a new level of odd to bring it up in a video clip that is specifically showing a skill in the 13 channel!

Well he's coming into the line from fullback and using the time on the ball to place the kick.Puja wrote: ↑Mon Nov 27, 2023 12:09 pmI believe it's come up once or twice before, although it's a new level of odd to bring it up in a video clip that is specifically showing a skill in the 13 channel!

He could have been a good 15. Looked ok there when he had to cover the position Vs France (iirc) for England.

well quite. And he was originally a very promising 10, but shunted out by Exeter to accomodate Steenson's kicking iirc.FKAS wrote: ↑Mon Nov 27, 2023 12:24 pmWell he's coming into the line from fullback and using the time on the ball to place the kick.

I think he’d have made a good winger. Is that all the backs positions covered now?

Wasted opportunity not to've converted him to number 8, IMO.

Lolz! Missed a massive trick there then. The new Parisse was missed.

Re: Newcastle vs Exeter - Sunday
Did he ever really ever establish himself in another position enough to justify the effort of dicking him about trying to make him an 8?

It’s not going to get any worse than discussing Slade at lock is it?
