I like Atkinson and the Redpath comparison is fitting, he really compliments Lawrence’s skills, but every time I see him being praised it comes with the caveat that he also made 3 big mistakes in that game.

Are we sure he’s not another Billy Twelvepoints?
Did he make three big mistakes?

Of the ones I counted live I got it wrong. I rewatched this morning and one of the offsides wasn’t him, and the kick pass was inches from being on the money, and arguably Clark misjudged it by coming inside before out. One offside was definitely him. But that’s just an offside. Hardly criminal.

First and foremost a cracking game, full of good intent, skill and great energy.

For me Atkinson is the kind of player who just makes a team play better. He does so many good things in a game, often quite subtle that can go unnoticed. Some of his short passing and offloading is just terrific.

Elsewhere I thought Clement was excellent. His breakthrough season perhaps?

Fasogbon did well. He's a rookie prop but the early signs are very encouraging. Kloska showed up well for Bristol too, i thought.

Everything he does is just a second sharper than the players around him. Ok two offsides and the kick to the wing being marginally overcooked. But he’s just class! Lawrence would thrive off him as he does Redpath!
I have been saying it for a few seasons now…..I will die on that hill with you EP
I can't see it myself. He looks like a solid club player only to me. BUT, he needs to get a chance to prove things one way or the other.
Agreed. I feel like the rave reviews are because we desperately want him to be the answer, so good things he does are seen as great, competent seen as good, and bad are glossed over. I want him to be the player you all see as well, but at the moment, he's still in the basket with Dan Kelly of "decent enough, but if we weren't starved for 12s, then we wouldn't even be talking about those performances".

Seb Atkinson reminds me of Ant Allen. He's good at everything but his lack of physicality and obvious USP seem to have him overlooked. He's the kind of player that makes those around him look better but unsure if that's going to translate to international rugby.

Notable that Fasogbon looks a little apprehensive as he goes for a handshake, clearly not sure what kind of reaction he was going to get after the verbals and wave off in the match, and Genge shows a touch of class in being magnanimous and friendly to the youngster. Genuinely good bloke.

That was great to see. A bit like a better version of Marler/Opoku-Fordjour last season.
