Exeter v Toulouse

Post by francoisfou »

I went to the Toulouse v Exeter match earlier this year and there wasn't much between the sides at half-time and then Toulouse ran away with the second half.
Toulouse have a strong side out again today with notably François Cros on the flank with jack Willis so I'd normally expect the same result, but Exeter are surely a better side than the one propping up the Premiership?

Keep an eye on 20-year-old Mathis Castro-Ferreira, replacement back row forward. He's another from the France U20 side who's a tremendous prospect.
Joshua Brennan - a son of former Toulouse and Ireland's Trevor Brennan, is also on the bench and is being carefully watched by Fabien Galthié for inclusion in the France 6N squad.

Exeter: Hodge; Feyi-Waboso, Hammersley, Tua, Wyatt; Slade, Townsend; Goodrick-Clarke, Frost, Painter, Tuima, Capstick, E Roots, Vermeulen (capt), Vintcent.

Replacements: Yeandle, Blose, J Roots, Jenkins, Fisilau, Becconsall, Haydon-Wood, Wimbush.

Toulouse: Ramos; Mallia, Barassi, Chocobares, Lebel; R Ntamack, Dupont (capt); Neti, Marchand, Aldegheri, Flament, Meafou, Cros, Willis, Roumat.

Replacements: Cramont, Ainu'u, Merkler, Brennan, T Ntamack, Castro-Ferreira, Graou, Kinghorn.

Hardly needs saying at this point but that Toulouse team is ridiculous. To be missing Akhi and Capuozzo and still put out a backline (and bench) like that is crazy.

Is T Ntamack the brother of Romain?

Is Brennan senior the one who lamped a supporter or something?

Yes and yes. Brennan senior saw red mist during a Toulouse v Ulster game many moons ago when an Ulster fan questioned the morals of Brennan’s mother which TB took exception too and climbed into the stand to ask the fan to explain himself. Two seconds later he lamped him and said goodbye to his rugby career.

Not a very supportive supporter then.

Great way to ingratiate yourself to French rugby though.

A mate of mine who was there (a row behind) insisted to me that the person Brennan viciously assaulted did nothing at all. If something was said at all (which is also disputed) then if my mate is correct he twatted the wrong bloke.
