Am feeling a little more optimistic after the Ospreys and Scarlets wins. Obviously anything less than a 20 point defeat in Paris would be a surprise, and I think they will get steamrollered again by the Irish, but there may be a win or two this year. It’s a better squad than last year, at least.

Losing by a mere two scores with a combative performance would be a result. A win would be a miracle.

I think last year was a real nadir but we really need something to suggest we can be competitive this season and win a game and look like we might win some of the others.

Ireland and France are in a different league at the moment.

Your chances have improved!
Damian Penaud has injured a toe and won’t be in the French team on Friday evening.

We’ve lost Faletau so what ever luck the rugby gods were pushing our way has been balanced out

My biggest fear* for the whole championship is that Wales will do badly but not badly enough for Gatland to get sacked, like beat Italy and that's good enough for the WRU.

* alright, being thrashed 50-0 in all matches and becoming a laughing stock would be worse. But I'm not that pessimistic.
