Top14 side Vannes are said to be interested in signing Dave Cherry.
They are, however, currently bottom of the Top14 and could be relegated.

Given how shit Ewan Ashman is I’d be reluctant to let him go.

Damn. Ashman’s star really has fallen.

Funny how that keeps happening.

Agreed Cherry has been a huge positive since Turner’s departure though.

Love Dave Cherry but wouldn't begrudge him a French payday at this stage in his career. Harrison needs gametime and, I think, could be really good.

Given how Glasgow and Scotland have a specialist consultant and Edinburgh refused to use him, it does beg the question what specialist coaching is he getting? Lawrie being a former hooker isn't necessarily equal to a good coach.

Kinghorn starts, on the wing. With Reed and Warr starting (neither have been recently I think) I wondered if Sale had gone Saracens, but TBF they seem to have gone full on away to Toulouse.

Since the 6N Warr has been starting with Reed mostly on the bench. It looks like they’re going to give it a go. Good for them.

Chapman is moving to Exeter. A bit relieved about that. He's got something about him and Exeter is a good place to compete for game time, but I was worried he'd be picked up by Edinburgh as the latest Scottish qualified project, which we really dont need with Vellacot and Shiel already on the books.

Is that Charlie Chapman you are referring to @switchskier?

In other news, a certain BBC 6 Nations presenter and a mother of a certain under 20s star has claimed her son Reuben is singing for Sale 😱. Hopefully the lad gets some game time there and develops into a full international very soon, he's certainly got a couple of fellow Scots in the team with him (Warr and Reed) 👍.

i am delighted for Chapman, I also think he is a cracking player. Hasn't managed to progress at Gloucester for whatever reason )Gloucester brought through a shed load of 9s, all looked good btu none really hit the heights expected (eg Chapman, Varney, Vellacott!) I suspect its something about Gloucester.
OTOH I don't think Exeter is a good place, not until another dinosaur (Baxter) moves on. But if it was his best option, be mad not to take it

Unsurprisingly Edinburgh have got themselves in a mess at 9. Vellacott is now 30 but doesn't play like an experienced veteran and the other two are out of contract with Price leaving. Given there are few, if any, SQ 9s on the market they will probably sign a journeyman rather than give the academy guys a go.

Chapman is 24, needs to kick on if he has international ambitions. Exeter seems a decent spot for obtaining gametime although not for their style of play.

I forgot all about Chapman. I’ll add him to my list.

As for Edinburgh scrumhalfs and potentially signing a journeyman, for gawd sake don’t let it be Sam Hidalgo-Clyne. Last seen at Benetton AFAIK.

SHC was a formidable talent but if ever a player epitomised the problem culture at Edinburgh, its him. The problem long pre-dated him and is still there
