Subcontinent flashpoint
https://www.theguardian.com/world/2025/ ... it-country
In response to recent terrorist attacks on India, they've launched missile and drone attacks on Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied territory. Pakistan responded with artillery fire and claim to have shot down a couple of Indian jets (more likely drones).
USA and China getting involved diplomatically - which they need to do, but I'm not sure either can actually help. China are another adversary locally, whilst USA are wildly incompetent currently (Trump pointing out that these two countries have been fighting over Kashmir for 1500 years... erm... yeah)
Hope to gods this has satisfied egos, thumped some chests, and everyone can sit back down again. Otherwise this has the potential get very nasty, very quickly.

If India continues with its threat to cut off those rivers and essentially starve millions, there'll be full-scale war.

The problem is that this is a real flashpoint and both sides seem to want to compare dick sizes, which is a bit dangerous. Hopefully some self preservation kicks in before nukes are fired/dropped, but it wouldn’t surprise me if this escalated a bit more yet.
