So that’s the facts above. Here are my reckons:

Scott Barrett is a poor choice as captain. A blind man can see that Ardie is 10x the leader Scott is. Barrett is only a first choice player because our locking stocks are so thin.

And Ardie apart, the loose forwards are a bit one-dimensional. I’ve got time for Sititi though.

Front row is about right.

In the backs, it’s a new generation of half backs. Should be ok but having no old hand there might be an issue.

10 - fuckin ace, bro. Barrett might be a yard off top pace now but he’s still class

Midfield - seems like ALB should be older, he feels like a generation older. Good to see Proctor get the spot he has earned.

Back 3: well, I don’t see what Love brings that Shaun Stevenson doesn’t do better. We will miss Telea and I hope Clarke is proper fit.

Barrett, Tuipulotu, Vaa’i looks quite a decent core of lock options from the outside, but maybe that’s a bit superficial.

Savea is going to be off again and maybe not worth sticking with him for the captaincy? Maybe the depth isn’t there but alongside Sititi (and maybe Finau?) I would have thought that’s a decent backrow. Is Dalton out of the picture?

Any remote chance of Ioane at 13 being ousted for anything other than injury?

So Sititi is injured out. Dalton is now listed as injury cover I think.

As for the locks, I mean they’re OK but it’s not exactly Whitelock/Retallick material, is it? Would you put any of them in a World XV conversation?

On the other hand, I’m not too disappointed in the dropping of Blackadder. He brought the adequate skills of his dad without the leadership quality. I’m sure he would be a star in Welsh pro side or something. Like a poor man’s Xavier Rush, but not as good-looking.

Love provides cover at 10 which Stevenson does not, maybe the selectors see him as the future first five. I would have liked to see Leroy Carter in the mix, big fan of his from sevens and been impressed by his transition to 15 man game for BOP and Waikato.

100% agree about Carter. I hope he’s at least been told he’s in the frame or we might lose him overseas.

I hope that Razor is working on a plan to have B Barrett score at least 6 tries this season. It would be fuckin hilarious to have a 10 overtake J Wilson, J Savea, Rokocoko, Cullen and Howlett to take the AB scoring record.
