From an English viewpoint, I think the Lions are doing us a favour with Genge. He looks to be in his best form for years both in the loose and scrum. I was surprised to see the DT reporter only award him 7/10.

The Lions need pace and nous in the back row. There was a breakdown early on the right with two backs against the opposition back row. None of our trio were even in shot. The commentary clip showing Curry waste his energy chasing a poor kick for 60 yards merely demonstrated that on-the-hoof brains were somewhat lacking. I remain convinced that it should be Conan OR Chessum starting the test, not both. Maybe, Chessum, Morgan and Earl or Morgan, VDF and Conan. I'd not be surprised to see Pollock come off the bench in the first test and start the 2nd. We have to find pace from somewhere.

I saw that too. I dunno if it is pace, but it was strange as there was clearly a danger of being counter-rucked for a good few seconds before it happened, but no one came. I dunno if somd players are too busy lining up for the next phase.

You'd like to think that Chessum would be hitting a lot of rucks. Have to look at the front five too.

You mean the kick chase that resulted in a large net gain for thwe Lions due to Curry chasing the returning kick down?

No, in the instance I mean, he got nowhere near the ball.

It’s pace in the backs that’s lacking not so much up front, where you have pretty mobile front five, and Chessum no slouch. Going two with two pacy none tight carriers in the back row doesn’t feel right to me.

So, who plays 7? Earl or Pollock? Chessum, VDF/Morgan, Conan as a unit is playing into the hands of the mobile Aussie backrow isn't it?

There is pace available in the backline but whether he picks them is another matter.

Apparently good new on Kinghorn, so if he is available for the test he and Jones are both quick. Didn't think Freeman was slow?

Freeman not slow but not high end either. None of the wings are.

Vdf and Morgan are hardly slow, and both better on the floor and breakdown than Earl; Pollock imo needs more conditioning and match hardening at this level, talented as he is.

  don't get me wrong, he has game changing ability and does a lot of the basics pretty well for a whippersnapper, but think its a big ask to start him as a lion test player.
