An actual disgrace is what this is.
George flying out there to play one game and provide back up whilst missing an actual England game that matters.
Scotland lost today which effectively kills their hopes of a good draw at the next World Cup because of this stupid tour also. The concept is a total farce and I’m doubtful the players would be so passionate about it if wasn’t just a massive cash cow.

I'd assume George would prefer to join the Lions - big honour and a decent wedge of cash. I assume it's reduced or pro-rated for late call ups but probably still substantial.
Shame for England but once the Lions want him I think it's right England let him go.

Yeah probably. Hopefully Dan and Langdon smash it and take his place soon.LongForgotten wrote: ↑Sat Jul 12, 2025 6:14 pm I'd assume George would prefer to join the Lions - big honour and a decent wedge of cash. I assume it's reduced or pro-rated for late call ups but probably still substantial.

Midweek waste of time with the Lions versus co-captaining England to a massive series win (against a better side than the Lions are playing) and he chooses the Lions. He can get in the bin.

No issue with George being released. its about the timing. Pulling him out of the starting XV on the day of an important match simply isnt on.

Fundamentally, I agree. But, that's the farce of the Lions concept. It rules. One day, a decent player will defy the RFU and say, "I'd rather play for England." Until then, we are stuck with it.fivepointer wrote: ↑Sat Jul 12, 2025 6:29 pm No issue with George being released. its about the timing. George is warming up with the side. So just missing the game in case he gets injured.

Cool, yeah, great. Thanks Farrell I'm sure I won't hold this against you in future.Captainhaircut wrote: ↑Sat Jul 12, 2025 8:21 pm George is warming up with the side. So just missing the game in case he gets injured.

I'm following on BBC commentary but sounds a good start with the centres combining for Seb Atkinson to score.

Things like this head contact are crazy. Curry saw the ball, he ripped the ball. There was no way to avoid contact. I understand the need to cut down on head contacts, but it just seems crazy to make these yellow cards. I can understand a penalty, but for such a low impact collision...

Two knock ons, two overthrows and a wobbly throw that lead to a turnover a phase later, all in 20minutes. Dan is having a rotten game.

It's a shame. I've liked what I've seen before from him, but he's been pretty awful so far today. Risk of getting thrust in last minute, I guess.

Think this might be Dan's last cap for a while

Very possibly. We’ve had some great positions in this game that have really not been helped at all by him, either in the loose or the set piece

He was the bench option, he'll have been through all the lineout drills in training getting plenty of reps. Langdon might have had less reps being third choice but Dan should have had the opportunity to be fully prepared in case of emergency. Not really an excuse if it's as bad as it sounds.

It's the mental side of it, not the technical. They'll all know all the drills. But preparing as the bench player for a week, before being thrust in a few hours before ko CAN be tough. And it obviously has been for poor Theo. And unfortunately, think that's his ship sailed for a while.FKAS wrote: ↑Sat Jul 12, 2025 9:16 pmHe was the bench option, he'll have been through all the lineout drills in training getting plenty of reps. The handling in the initial break in the build up to Steward's try was fantastic. THAT was what I want to see from England. I'm liking Atkinson a lot in that 12 shirt.

Dan is having, no joke, a 2 out of 10 game so far. Another awful line and then a pen.
A truly awful, awful performance

Dan has to come off. Incredibly we’re so close even with him killing everything.
Steward had a very poor few minutes since his try. That grubber in their 22 was poor- just needed to recycle and we probably score on the other side and then fucked up that kick through.
