Genge was very good. Maro.ran himself into.the ground. Russell not at his best but his mind was sharp taking advantage of situations with the boot.

Thought the back 3 were pretty average for the first 50-60 bar one or two nice touches. Weren't covering the back field well and out competed on high balls. Amd Lowe especially was shocking in defence, missing tackles and making poor reads.

Glad for Keenan after his injury luck that he is now a player with a series winning try.
Thought Freeman carried well, and Keenan was fine. Lowe was targeted and was pony

Rule interpretation can lotterise things a bit, feeding into this.
Pleased for Russell & Genge has managed his bulk up perfectly.
I've noticed how effective Russell has been in defence on this tour. He is not a dominant/bone crusher tackler but has very quietly and effectively plugged the 10 channel. He's often fast back on his feet too, to complete a second tackle. I don't think I have heard any of the TV wise sages mention this. Fair play Russell.
It’s amazing how perspective on a player can change when he’s playing for your side. I think Scotland supporters have always known this and Bath supporters have discovered it.

Aye, but got turned over once and very nearly again at the end, went to deck a bit easily and didn’t punch the ball back to present. But better than expected tbh

He has been very visibly leading the line speed and aggression in D.

Lots of weeks moments that make up a win. Russell launching that penalty into the corner taking way more territory than usual when Aus were sleeping before the Jones try and just after the Curry try (I think) was massive in the context of the game.

Not sure.
He's always been a committed defender, it's the "not a team player" and "useless if the team aren't on his wavelength" cliches that I've learned don't apply (and didn't at Racing, I just didn't see him much there before he was rumoured to us).

I don't think I've ever been in favour of a 6:2 split before but I am for next week. There are two reasons: Marcus instead of Diddums; and the need for two quick back-rowers to come on and step up the pace. I'd start Morgan and have Curry and Pollock to come on.

That was a huge kick and I agree massive in the context of the game.

Just sat down to watch the recorded Lions match, or so I thought.
Turns out I’d altered my Sky sub and have had sports deleted just in time for the game, doh.
Where can I watch it? Does it get on to Youtoob at all?

Curry's interventions won that game for the Lions today. I appreciate the reasoning of bringing on big characters to close out the game, but we might have been buried but for him. On the other hand, Morgan brings a more traditional 7 presence, with turnovers, breakdown disruption, and he has hell of an engine.

Yeah thought Curry was very influential again. Such a shame his hip is clearly curtailing him.

That was fucking great.

No idea what was going in midfield towards the end, felt like Kinghorn just decided he was playing 13 but it was desperately needed. Beautiful running.

Amazing for Keenan to get that. I feel for Aus a bit, and Tizzano could probably argue he’s been hard done by there. So glad Morgan didn’t have to face that try getting chalked off though.

Gutted for Mitchell not to get on, but JGP is so bloody good.

Any word on Jones injury?

I didn’t realise he was injured. No mention of it in his post-match interview.

Great watch that!!! Aus first 30 was fabulous. Second half a proper battle.

Was Jones injured?

Kinghorn came off the left wing having replaced Lowe I thought, then joined in as an extra centre, given the lack of gas in midfield post Jones.

If Jones wasn't injured there needs to be an enquiry.

Quite. Farrell ain't special at 12. He's a joke at 13. If Jones WAS injured, I'd have moved Freeman to 13 and left Lowe on.

Of course, the press tomorrow will insist that Farrell's mere presence was a significant factor in snatching victory from what was going to be defeat if he had not come on.

Check out the telegraph reviews.

Really quite balanced and sensible, until they come to the replacements.

Replacements
As a collective they were the Lions’ men of the match. Genge and Stuart took the Australian scrum to the cleaners while Kinghorn added thrust in attack and Farrell the class. 9/10

Redefining the 13 position by primarily hitting rucks
