Other Matches - Week 2

Post by Danno »

Hope you don't think I'm stepping on your toes WT, but I'm bored and figured I'd help out a bit so you don't have to create every thread on this board!

Saturday 30 August

Pool B: Scotland v Fiji (14:45), Salford Community Stadium - BBC Two from 14:15

Pool A: USA v Australia (19:30), York Community Stadium - iPlayer, BBC Sport website and BBC Sport app

Sunday 31 August

Pool C: Ireland v Spain (12:00), Franklin's Gardens - BBC Two and BBC Radio Ulster and Foyle from 11:45

Pool D: Italy v South Africa (15:30), York Community Stadium - iPlayer, BBC Sport website and BBC Sport app

‐---------------‐--------------------------------------------------------------

Pick of the bunch is probably Italy v SA. After hammering Brazil, SA should have their tails up but Italy are pretty dangerous when they get their backs into the game.

Otherwise I'm looking forward to seeing if Aoife Wafer is fit to play for Ireland again - apparently trained today so she might be back this weekend. Scotland v Fiji might be a decent battle but I was totally wrong on Fiji last week so I shall be quiet now.

Not at all, delighted for someone to share some of the workload.

Fully agree that Italy v South Africa is the one to watch as a neutral - Italy really ought to be too good for South Africa - who didn't seem to have (or need) all that much beyond power. Italy are used to powerful opponents from the 6N, so should be okay there. But do SA have more in their locker? their ranking and results over the last 2 years don't suggest that they do; but I don't really know enough about them.

USA v Aus should also be worth tuning in to, though again, Aus should simply be too strong, and with too much variety for USA to handle (yes, despite USA having a celebrity in their side :O)

Just turned on the us-aus game. Something wrong with the Yankee kicker? Two really poor kicks to touch just limping over the line. Still, game on.

I don't think the yanks have any hope of making up that PD, but just to be on the safe side, yes please.

Game of the tournament so far!

Not fussed who qualifies after the red roses, USA or USA on the South Pacific makes little difference to me. I suspect that Aus will concede less than the yanks did against England and that Samoa will get a couple of tries so advantage to the Wallaroos.

Real shame that the matches are actively overlapping today - especially with rugby commentators, and their fetish for telling & showing scores from other matches.

If only there was some way to fit 4 matches into a 9-hour time frame without overlaps...

Great to see Brazil scoring a try. The roar when she crossed was impressive - I think the whole crowd had become Brazilian at that point and was happy they scored.
