Re: Japan
Scarlets centre Joe Roberts and Ospreys tighthead prop Ben Warren have been called into the Wales squad. I'm a big fan of Roberts, although at 12, not 13. I don't know Warren, but we're light on options at tighthead, and Griffin heads back over to Briz next week.

Re: Japan
I think Roberts has a bright future. We need someone to straighten our back line up a bit, we keep running laterally and getting nowhere. Why Llewely can’t play that role with him size is a question that needs to be answered.UKHamlet wrote: ↑Mon Nov 17, 2025 12:17 pm Scarlets centre Joe Roberts and Ospreys tighthead prop Ben Warren have been called into the Wales squad. I’d prefer a centre combo of Roberts and Llewelyn than Thomas as the second play maker isn’t working. Thomas isn’t the new Henson, who could pass and also challenge the line himself.

Re: Japan
Thomas is frustrating. He has size, speed and talent. But we aren't tapping that potential. Edwards is progressing well at 10. A 12 outside him that genuinely threatens the line would help him immensely. He'd have more space and an easy out if space closes for him. I think we persevere with Thomas. He has shown up to be hot headed too, and that needs to be reined in. Adams' recklessness may have sealed his future, and Thomas needs to have it driven home that he cannot let a similar act be the epitaph to his international career.
Llewellyn is frustrating too. He’s on fire in the premiership, and…a wet blanket for Wales. So, at 13…Roberts? Zammit has bulked from 95K to 105K when in the NFL. He said he’d like to get back to close to 95 but he’s at 100K now. About the same size as Roberts. Maybe we try him at 13. Of course, he can’t pass, (or doesn’t like to) and is soft defensively. But that would allow Blair to go to wing. And then at 15…I guess I’ll leave that for you to decide.

I reckon it's time to try Hawkins at 12. He has the potential to be a playmaker with sufficient size to break tackles. It's been a while since Gatland threw him in the deep end - hopefully his defence is a bit better now - but this week is the time to try a few things.Buggaluggs wrote: ↑Mon Nov 17, 2025 3:38 pm Thomas is frustrating. I'd keep Llewellyn at 13 - he's very solid. Perhaps a new 12 will work better with him

I don’t think any centre partnership will look good over the next two weekends.
But that doesn’t mean we can’t try and we have to select a new partnership for the final weekend
