Re: Harlequins vs Stormers
Quins sent back out pretty close to as was from last weekend with comments around the squad numbers being reduced and their Prem season being over ringing in their ears. Will we finally see a fight back?
Stormers have made it a bit easier for them.
“This matchday squad includes three DHL Stormers centurions and five Springboks along with the four debutants, so we have got a good mix. The one thing they all have in common is that they are focused on giving their all to get the right result this weekend,” he said.
DHL Stormers: 15 Warrick Gelant, 14 Dylan Maart, 13 Suleiman Hartzenberg, 12 Damian Willemse (captain), 11 Luke Burger, 10 Jurie Matthee, 9 Dewaldt Duvenage, 8 Marcel Theunissen, 7 Ben-Jason Dixon, 6 Louw Nel, 5 Ruben van Heerden, 4 Connor Evans, 3 Zachary Porthen, 2 Lukhanyo Vokozela, 1 Oli Kebble.
Replacements: 16 Scarra Ntubeni, 17 Vernon Matongo, 18 Hencus van Wyk, 19 Alex Groves, 20 Wandile Mlaba, 21 Imad Khan, 22 Clinton Swart, 23 Mfundo Ndhlovu.

Re: Harlequins vs Stormers
Feel like Quins would benefit from moving Dombrandt to 12. He could play off Smith with their combo a good one and would give Smith the big safety net he likes. He has the hands and running lines to do it and his limitations in the tight wouldn’t be an issue.
CCS can then play 8- removing the issue of CCS/Dombrandt not being able to play effectively in the same back row.

Re: Harlequins vs Stormers
Finally managed to tune in to some games this weekend. What a pleasant surprise. They’ve all been basically a point a minute too, oddly.
Most of the Quins England contenders are pretty fringe options for the 6 nations squad right now, but CCS, Kenningham, Smith, Murley all giving good showing so far.
I imagine the quality of this Stormers side will invalidate most demands to include these guys, but it feels like a big step in the right direction.
I’ve finally got to see what the deal is with Friday. Very sharp.
I’ve got to say I wouldn’t mind seeing Dombrandt at 12, though Bradley has looked better today than I’ve seen before and Waghorn is still a real prospect.

Really like Zach Carr you know. Big lad, but quick and seems to have a good feel.
He can play 6 in my Quins side with CCS at 8 and Dommers at 12. All coming together.

He looks absolutely shagged already. I think he’s just got that lumbering Jonny Gray sort of gait though.Epaminondas Pules wrote: ↑Sun Jan 11, 2026 2:26 pm Champs Cup debut for 18 year old Elliot Williams!
