I wish he’d resigned rather than re-signed.

Haha

Don't disagree, though I think the game today wasn't the one to judge him on. Edinburgh should be doing better but we shouldn't comoletely discount the injuries and Bath were just too strong.

Big game at home against the Bulls next week. Win that and get a few back over the 6N and they can approach the rest of the URC season positively. Lose and things could spiral even further.

Edinburgh team for the home game against the Bulls. Rae, Gilchrist and Venter all back from injury. It’s about a strong a team as they could put out but I’ve no idea how they’ll perform. I expect the forwards will be OK and the backs will fail to do anything of note.

15. Harry Paterson (22)

14. Darcy Graham (91)
13. Wes Goosen (66)
12. James Lang (85)
11. Duhan van der Merwe (110)

10. Ross Thompson (34)
9. Ben Vellacott (86)

1. Pierre Schoeman (144)
2. Ewan Ashman (47)
3. D’arcy Rae (31)
4. Glen Young (59)
5. Grant Gilchrist (227)
6. Liam McConnell (16)
7. Freddy Douglas (16)
8. Magnus Bradbury (144)

Replacements

16. Harri Morris (13)
17. Boan Venter (97)
18. Paul Hill (26)
19. Callum Hunter-Hill (28)
20. Ben Muncaster (52)
21. Charlie Shiel (84)
22. Cammy Scott (26)
23. Piers O’Conor (11)

Apparently they have won all their games at the Hive this season. This is a huge one!

They’ve only played four games at the Hive so far.

17-7 up at half-time and lose 19-17. No real surprise there, Edinburgh were terrible in the 2nd half with appalling performances from Thompson and Shiel (when he came on) coupled with poor discipline. You could point to the dodgy TMO decision for the winning try but Edinburgh didn’t deserve to win that. You really feel for young players like Freddy Douglas whose careers could be held back by being stuck at an under-performing club like Edinburgh.

Somehow the SRU thought that a team coached this badly should keep their head coach for another two years, all in the name of consistency. Consistently failing.

Also, Ashman pulled out before the match with a neck injury and Rae went off for an HIA which he failed. Ominous for the 6N. I hope Zander gets minimal game time for Glasgow tomorrow.

My understanding is that Rae passed his HIA but didn't come back on. Everitt suggests that Ashman will be fine too.

Gutting result. Any kind of win would have really set them up nicely for the rest of the season.

Puja posted this on the English Board about Wayne Smith moving to a senior coaching job at a professional club overseas.

It won't happen but him coming in as some kind of director of rugby at Edinburgh is about the only thing that would get people back on board.
