Just saw that R. Gray was subbed of at the 31st minute vs Connacht due to some injury. Not sure what it is , and how important it was.

Matt Scott continuing his good form for Gloucester it seems.
Stephen Jones tweet:
Matt Scott is a class above any other back on either side this evening. Sharpies try after two Scott carries.Glos lead Saints 20-16 after 60

A real f*cking clanger that one. And I've been a huge critic of Scott's the last season or two.OptimisticJock wrote:Just as well he isn't in the Scotland squad

He's absolutely atrocious and the lack of options is partially his fault. It's not like we just had a two test tour against Japan and a game against Georgia coming up where we can test a few youngsters....Mikey Brown wrote:Yup.

He's played a few recently I think. Some at loose head, oddly.hugh_woatmeigh wrote:Is that Low's first appearance of the season?Adder wrote:NDL playing his first game for Wasps against Sale tonight

Regardless... signing a new deal at Exeter was the biggest mistake of his career IMO.

He's 32 in a week or two he might not have had many options for realistically his last decent contract.hugh_woatmeigh wrote:Regardless... signing a new deal at Exeter was the biggest mistake of his career IMO.
He's Scotlands 3rd choice at best TH now and at his age family security and enjoying his day job is probably a primary concern rather than moving to a lower quality club for possibly less money to keep being 3rd choice for Scotland.
At his stage of his career, staying somewhere you like, the coaches like you and from what I remember reading the fans like you is never the worst decision of your career.

I didn't realise he was that old be honest. Thought he had a good few years left. Who is realistically coming through at tight-head? We can't just flog Fagerson the way we have with Nel.

At international level you play your best players. At club level that's different and up to club coaches.Mikey Brown wrote:I didn't realise he was that old be honest. We have a massive gap in age between Nel and ZJRF and McCallum (who's started well) but Low is older than them all.
I'd still use Low for a while if he is getting some game time but I'm not expecting a 32 year old to sacrifice effectively pension money to be take a lesser deal elsewhere (enjoyment/money/lifestyle included). Given he signed a new deal i assume it was good for him.

Nel, Fagerson, Welsh, Low, Rae, Berghan, McCallum. Probably someone I've forgotten.

Was surprised but please to see how solid the Embra scrum looked for most of the match last night with two young lads against a decent Ulster pack.
