What happened to your theory that he was actor in a preordained fix?
Which part of flabbergasted didn't you understand?
Like a lot of other people I just never took Trump seriously. A little of my faith in American democracy has been restored. I congratulate the people of the US for electing the lesser of two evils.
If they're good enough to play at World Cups, why not in between?

A new theory will be along momentarily*.
*Yes, I meant momentarily in the American sense ie shortly

Trump will have a friendly Senate and House to work with. He should be able to build what he wants without the compromises that Obama had to work with. It'll be interesting to see how he handles health care, amongst other things. He's going to be able to make stuff happen.
On the face of it yes. But whilst Trump is likely to be more popular to them than Obama it's not as though all Republicans can stand the man, so we might see a split between those who can't abide him and those who'll tolerate Trump as best they can.
To a certain extent, sure. However, I think a lot of the animosity shown by Republicans towards Trump was because they thought he couldn't win. Pretty sure we're going to see quite the shift in sentiment now he's got them back on top.
Isn't he going to court next month for suspected rape of a 13yo? And then for Fraud after that? Home D at the Whitehouse for teh lulz.
Fuck having a cunt like that being the face of my country. Hes like a Sims character with all the cheats enabled, although hes a sack of shit hes somehow become president.

And what do you make of the vehicle hes used to win this election? His 'wall' carry on and vile comments about hispanics? I'm all for anti establishment but I draw a line when it comes to targeting minorities. Its exactly the same as Brexit. I have no problem with it but the way they have drawn votes disgusts me.

Your theory was that Trump wouldn't win, because he couldn't, because it was a set up.
So you kind of need to admit that all of that was wrong.
There is no shadowy elite controlling all. Just a bunch of fuckwits, fuckwitting as hard they can until some bigger fuckwit comes along.

It wasn't much of a choice, was it? But who knows what will happen. Obama campaigned on an anti-war ticket, picked up a Nobel Prize for it, and then proceeded to bomb 7 countries.

A lot of people got a lot of things wrong about this election. I was one of them. Trump's policies appeared so bizarre to me that I just wrote him off as a serious politician, which was my mistake, evidently, but on the foreign policy issue Clinton appeared the far more dangerous of the two.
So I congratulate the American people on their choice today. Democracy is alive in the US afterall, even if it effectively came down to choosing the lesser of two evils.

I think the rape one was a civil case, not that I'm trying to split hairs or anything.

How can you kill a god?
Shame on you, sweet Nerevar

I haven't been following this word for word - too depressing - but is that right because last I heard turnout was up. If it is right, then they've got no one but themselves to blame when they see the consequences.
Indeed.
I suspect President Trump will be spending the first few months of his administration undoing much of what Obama did manage to achieve. Obamacare must be toast. As for gun control, oh well.

The rape case has been settled out of court. No idea what will happen now with the other one.
It was so much easier to blame Them. It was bleakly depressing to think They were Us. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.
Trump only had a chance of becoming president as he was up against Clinton, of course on the flip side I thought Clinton only had a chance to be president as she was up against Trump, but in the end she didn't even come close to winning the electoral college, though she may actually get the popular vote.

It was fab beating the mighty All Blacks.
Couldn't give a shyte about the election. Won't make a difference to the average Seppo pleb either.
For me, the real pleasure was watching liberals and feminists across d'interwebs become apoplectic as the results rolled in.

I don't quite agree with the "no one but themselves to blame" sentiment. I wonder if a lot of young people in America simply decided that they couldn't bring themselves to vote for the status quo. The Republicans have the house again so Hillary wouldn't have been able to change much even if she had wanted to. If I was a Sanders fan, and a lot of the younger generation seem to have been a supporter I would probably have chosen to Vote for Hillary. However I can understand the sentiment that having Trump in the chair is a form of change at least. If nothing else if Trump enacts some of his ideas it will focus the need for change in America in a way that a Vote for Clinton couldn't for these people.
