Team for Georgia
Ok, assuming Jones and the others are fit what would you guys pick for Georgia. I wouldnt make wholesale changes as dont think it helps anyone to struggle in a disjointed performance but I do think we need to look at a couple of options. Mine might be
Reid - worth a shot
Brown - Think Ford is ahead of him for set piece work but need to be developing options
Fagerson - still developing and will do him good
Gray
Gray
Bradbury - good start yesterday
Watson
Strauss/CDP - Barclay has looked decent but I still think we lack carriers so want to try one of these two
Price - (or Pyrgos) need to look at options. Of you are going to slow it down at least pass well
Russell
Seymour
Dunbar
Jones - anyone know where he is getting gametime in the next few months?
Hoyland - Im a bit indifferent about Maitland - solid but not much spark
Hogg
Reid - worth a shot
Brown - Think Ford is ahead of him for set piece work but need to be developing options
Fagerson - still developing and will do him good

Using oy players in the squad:
Dell although I see the point on starting Reid.
Ford

Russell
Seymour
Dunbar
Jones/Bennett
Hoylands
Hogg
Brown
Reid although I though Allan was good
Low
Swinson as toolis not in squad
CdP
Price
Horne
Maitland

I'd like to see Bradbury v gorgodze. Different sides probably, but think the former will learn a lot from the latter.
I would also like to see us execute several perfect receiving re-starts.

Highlights of the Georgia scrum demolishing the Samoan one, will have to be careful and hope the guys don't have as many scrums in the first 40. Think the guys were quite nervy about the RG scrum

Thank god. Some incentive to stop dropping the ball so much.whatisthejava wrote:Highlights of the Georgia scrum demolishing the Samoan one, will have to be careful and hope the guys don't have as many scrums in the first 40. Think the guys were quite nervy about the RG scrum

I wonder if Dickinson has been held back for this even if he has been listed as injured.whatisthejava wrote:Highlights of the Georgia scrum demolishing the Samoan one, will have to be careful and hope the guys don't have as many scrums in the first 40. I could be tempted by Reid starting and Dickinson on bench. Harsh on Dell and Allan who have done admirably given the circumstances.

Heading to the game, I'm always a wee bit squashed at MF but Rugby Park is like sitting in a high chair for me

Re: Team for Georgia
Id stick with the young props, sure they may struggle for 60 mins but our backs will be be better than theirs and our back 5 will be able to hold the Georgia scrumBig D wrote:I wonder if Dickinson has been held back for this even if he has been listed as injured.whatisthejava wrote:Highlights of the Georgia scrum demolishing the Samoan one, will have to be careful and hope the guys don't have as many scrums in the first 40. Come next Summer we know we will be missing WP New if he maintains form and its not beyond belief that with us being in Australia one of our props won't be called up as a replacement

Re: Team for Georgia
That is probably my preference, just that I wouldn't be against Reid starting this one. There could be a thought that Dell and Allan have shown enough to be comfortable with using them going forward and that Reid may be more suited to this game.whatisthejava wrote:Id stick with the young props, sure they may struggle for 60 mins but our backs will aåbe be better than theirs and our back 5 will be able to hold the Georgia scrumBig D wrote:I wonder if Dickinson has been held back for this even if he has been listed as injured.whatisthejava wrote:Highlights of the Georgia scrum demolishing the Samoan one, will have to be careful and hope the guys don't have as many scrums in the first 40. Re: Team for Georgia
If we are smart with this, we could be in the situation normal teams are where we actually have 3 players on either side with experience
Mind you what Jon Welsh has done to be behind Moray Low is beyond me , was playing for Newcastle last night so unless he is just back from injury or is somehow getting blamed for the RWC result
Dickinson
Reid
Dell
Nel
Ferguson
Welsh
Low

You forgot our No.2 LHP, added him in for you. You are right though.whatisthejava wrote:If we are smart with this, we could be in the situation normal teams are where we actually have 3 players on either side with experience

Re Low I can only think it's been because until last week he has been solid enough off the bench.

Also forgetting Ryan Grant,
Still some good rugby in that player but he needs a good run of not being injured

I fear that ship may have sailed. Contract is up this year, may be good for all parties if he moves on.whatisthejava wrote:Also forgetting Ryan Grant,

Id be surprised if an AP team doesn't pick him up for cover, the guy has class and skill but seems to have struggled since the last Lionshp18 wrote:I fear that ship may have sailed. Contract is up this year, may be good for all parties if he moves on.whatisthejava wrote:Also forgetting Ryan Grant,

I remember reading after that he really regrets not confronting Gatland about his selection and fighting for the shirt
