Paris pour les 6 nations advice

Post by General Zod »

Hi,

There's an outside chance I can swing a visit to Paris for the 6N. Have seen a couple of flights, so, my questions to anyone (Adder?) who might have some bon advice are...

Is this ticket site legit and, if anyone's used it, how do we get our hands on les billets? http://www.stadefrance.com/fr/billetter ... cosse-2017

What area should we stay in? Me and the recently-married missus looking for something lively but with good transport links to the stade and CGD. Oh, and pretty cheap. Not a complete dump, just clean will do us.

Any recommendations?

If that site doesn't work out I may have two spares for Paris. I'd need to get in touch with my uncle and see if he's shifted them yet though. It's been a few weeks since they became available though so I'm not that confident.

He's done all the hotel arranging too so I could ask him what the hotel is called. It's cheap apparently, not a dump though.

I'd certainly be interested! Just obtaining clearance to go this weekend - wish me luck!

Hey,

I will be happy to help. I have not lived in Paris since 2013 though, and things change fast (hotel names disappear, retaurant close...). My favourite neighbourhood has also suffered from the Terrorist attacks.

1) Stade de France website is reliable. There is usually a lot of tickets on sale for the correct price in front of stadium on match day.

2) For quick access to Gare du Nord (and thus to Stade de France and Charles de Gaulle aeroport), the 9th and 10th arrondissement (district) are the best. Hotels in Paris have small rooms and Prices are boosted by any events especially 6 nations. I used to Work in the Libertel Chain, Rooms are fairly good but can be expensive. Also I would have breakfast outside of the Hotel.

if you are looking for good scores on booking.com in the 9-10-11th district, you won't go very wrong.

Please feel free to get back to me if you have any questions or if you see any other hotels outside these areas and you want an opinion. Is this your first time in Paris?

My daughter's birthday is the next day to the game. unfortunately, it's happening in Bulgaria :(

Cheers for the help, chaps.

Looks like some top advice there, Adder. I'll pm you if I get the tickets. Will probably only go for the 40 Euros ones, which are either in the gods or on the floor, both in the corners. Am thinking up top???

I have been to Paris, but it was several years ago. James McFadden scored the only goal in a Wendyball match and we all went home happy. Unsurprisingly, I remember next to nothing. Before that, I had Eurostar tickets on 7th July 2005, so London was in lockdown.

Is the area around the gare du nord/ gare de l'est itself a bit dodgy? Also, the walk from the nord to the est looks easy on a map - is it?
