Headphones

Post by Parsifal »

I have two pairs of Sennheiser RS 220s (not that I was born in Redruth and have four ears) which have been superb for uncompressed digital stereo in my home studio. I've not followed the technology these last couple of years and wondered what else is out there. I've read a few reviews of HiFi Man HE 400i's etc but nothing overly useful as a comparative. Any suggestions out there?

Edit: should have put this in Help and Advice.

Mine are cheap and cheerful Grado Labs SR80e, which will give wearer the appearance of being a Russian tank driver, but have remarkably accurate tonal properties, which is why they are favoured by studios in the know.

Top 8 from Which? £100 between the top two for a 2% difference in Which's score. Couple of in-ear Bose's there, wouldn't normally look at in-ear. Similar prices for the rest until the last one which is only £40 or so, but only 10% Whichy points below the top one.

Sennheiser RS 180
Bose AE2w
Bose SoundTrue In-Ear
Bose SoundSport In-Ear
Sennheiser Urbanite XL
Sony MDR-1R
Bose SoundLink
Sennheiser PX 100-II
Gerald Davies, what was he doing there?!
