Hearing reports that Joost Van Der Westhuizen has died.
Hardly unexpected, but horribly sad news.
The perfect player; loved watching him play, hated seeing him on the opposition teamsheet.
By all accounts, a true gent too.

Much as I hated him playing against us, as a rugby fan you have to admire and applaud truly gifted players and enjoy them contributing to our wonderful game.

Apologies if I have posted this before, but went to the Dinner of 9s at the Arms Park a couple of years ago as a fund raiser for his charity....plenty of hard arse rugby players there from all levels, not many left without shedding a tear after he spoke.
Obviously I dont know him personally, but from all Ive seen and read, great player, great family man and will be greatly remembered.
