Martin Crowe

Post by Parsifal »

I read this a few hours ago and haven't seen a thread as yet so I'll take this opportunity to offer my condolences to his family and NZ sport in general. What a fine player he was.

Sad to see this post was to report the passing of a recent great - was unaware of his poorly condition.
Top batsman in the world for a while and tremendous career stats.
Joined Sir Beefy & Sir Viv at Zummerzet in the 80's & just as good in many respects.
Beefy's tweet..' Very sad to wake up to the news that Martin "Hogan" Crowe has passed away...!! One of the best to play the wonderful game !! RIP
Great tribute, Top Cricket man.

He actually replaced Sir Viv at Somerset I think, as a very young player.

Beefy was on the radio this morning talking about him, along with Mark Nicholas. Ian smith was on last night.

I can link the audio if interested.

Crowe was at the club for a couple of years before
'Roebuckgate' and the sacking of Viv & Joel G with Beefy also heading for the exit door.MC filled the overseas slot when VR wad on test duty, and then replaced him fully after '86, for which he received some unsavoury stick from some quarters.
Nice article..
