Never thought I'd see the day

Post by Ross. S »

But if Wales beat France and England beat Ireland, Wales will climb to fourth in the world rankings and will avoid NZ, England and Australia in the RWC draw.

So come saturday night, if Wales beat France, I'll be screaming my tits off for England to win a second sucessive Grand Slam. I never thought I'd see the day, I feel dirty :| . Obviously, if France win I'll be turning green to support Ireland :D

Didn't realise this. Damn, what a dilemma! My English wife won't recognise me.

I still can't quite believe this. I guess SA having such a dreadful time has opened up one of the top 4 places, and Ireland managed to lose to Scotland and us, unexpectedly!

But what to do? Who to support? I think I'll still support Ireland and just see a 4th ranking spot as a consolation if England get the GS.

The 4th ranking spot is a two-edged sword since Howley will never let us forget it if he manages it.

I can't cheer England.

And before I get jumped on (or praised) for that; I can't countenance ANY other team getting a Grand Slam. Two in a row, much worse.

England have the title and they absolutely deserve it. They will win today without my support, but I'm damned if I'll be happy to see it.

We can't get second place in the table unless Scotland lose. Even then, second in the tournament because everyone has lost two games is no great achievement. 4th seeding is indeed a "two-edged sword" as coasting through an easy RWC group has not done us favours in the past. I'd happily forego these little consolations if we could just avoid hearing "Double-Grand-Slam Champions!" for the next five years.

But we won't. Ireland are spent, and if England are half as good as they were last time, they'll win, they'll deserve to win, and I'll be suitably miserable about it.

An England win today would also see them set the record of 18 consecutive wins, they then go on tour to Argentina which could see them extend it further

I can't & won't support England. Everyone seems to be assuming we'll beat France but I think it's 50/50 & if we revert to the usual conservative gameplan we won't win

Correct. We did and so we didn't.
