'Draining the swamp' of people who think profit should drive politics...?. I fail to see how that is imitating Trump.
If you think public services should be run for gain........that's infantile.
Actually, strike that. Even an infant could tell you it was a serious mistake.

I would like to think voters could see a difference in truthfulness of such a line between a lifelong, dull, devoted socialist and a silver spoon-fed, reality show star, billionaire property magnate - but unfortunately I have my doubts.

You're making a few assumptions there.

I was just pointing out similarities between Corbyn's pledge and Trump's. As has since been pointed out, one pledge comes from a decent politician and the other a complete bellend.

However, Trump was given no chance of succeeding and Corbyn has similar prospects if the polls are to be trusted.

It is certainly exciting. We can definitely ignore all the other nightmares engulfing us.

Whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa, don't say things you can't take back, like suggesting Trump is a "decent politician."

Ah, now wait. This is just another example of the media elite rigging the system.

Great isn't it. The senior labour leadership can't get their policies lined up, yet we are supposed to consider them potential government material. I'm not surprised that many labour MPs are standing down.

Labour could use a variant on a Def Leppard song as their campaign anthem, Let's Get Rigged, very JC

That Butler interview was just pitiful. I despair at Labour some times with their unprofessional and thoughtless approach. They are in damage limitation territory here. Its all about trying to hold on to as many of their seats as they can. The very least they can is get their better media performers front and centre at every opportunity, and not rely on some hapless amateur.

Most of their better performers in the media think Glorious Leader™ a pathetic joke as leader, so it's a problem to send them out in the hope they remember they dislike the Tories more

its in all the MPs interests to fight the party's corner even if most of them know Corbyn is a massive liability. For now, they have to put aside their disdain for the leadership.

I wouldn't if I were them. Imo they're best served by such a trouncing that not only is Corbyn gone but so too all (or enough of) the hard left idiots who've swarmed into the party under Corbyn. And if the party is now further to the left and even in replacing Corbyn simply votes in another idiot then they need to move somewhere more progressive or accept it'll be a long fight to reclaim Labour and we'll be in a one party state for sometime.

The sane Labour MPs will be fighting constituency battles. Any mention of national policy or Corbyn will be avoided at all costs. The big issue, and I've no idea if the MP's are spread in this way, is if the marginals are full of moderates and they end up with a larger % of Corbynites in the PLP after the election.

The more I read the more depressing the options are and I've only really got 2 options. As much as I hate FPTP it may benefit me as neither LD or Tory (shudders) have a chance in my constituency.

You in Dundee East or West? Whatever, I can't see much chance of a shock in either of those.

Any moderate Labour MP or party member is almost certainly hoping to cauterise the far left wound by the only means possible - complete destruction at the next election. A minor loss will not have the required result, only a complete meltdown will convince the far left that they are wasting their time and to move on. It may take a decade to rebuild properly, but the sooner that start happens the better - this country needs an effective opposition.

Any moderate MPs who want to try and hang on in there will be avoiding any mention of Corbyn and highlighting local issues and probably avoiding any talk of Brexit if they happen to be in the Midlands or North.

Is there really much difference between a 1 party state and a 2 party state with pretty much the same policies?

Maybe labour need to split and form 2 loosely cooperative parties?
