England football fred
Rather than start up a new thread for England matches, it probably makes more sense just to have one...
England looked so much better against a second string Germany team in the friendly the other day.
Gone back to being clueless in front of goal again.

It's a win. 3 points in the bag but I just don't get all the fannying around on the ball outside the box. It seemed a lot of our players were reluctant to put a cross in and we we're just trying to play deft touches and 1-2s to try and open the door.
I appreciate Southgate is trying to develop some ideas and encourage England to play with multiple styles in order to take on different opposition, but ffs, it seems these players are unable to sniff a good opportunity to put a cross in the box when it's seemingly on.
I don't get the wank-fest over Defoe tapping in a simple opportunity either. Motm?? With 60 minutes of play. Really?!
Alli was pretty ordinary earlier too, which just shows he has a long way to go after impressing against Germany.
WTF has Barkley got to do to get on the pitch for England. He's playing some great stuff for Everton but is seen as unused bench fodder for England. He's the type of player capable of opening up defences which is what England are crying out for.

Great chance for Kane to open the scoring against Scotland after a lovely deft cross by Lallana. Kane just couldn't wrap his foot around it.
Pretty sure Hart just picked up a back pass from an England player a few minutes ago. No complaints from Scotland and nothing mentioned by the commentators.
Alli a little disappointing so far though...trying loads and seeing plenty of the ball, but some of his passes have been poor.

Quite a few England players have been guilty of some poor passes. Lallana has been sloppy a couple of times, Dier just overhit a pass by about 20 yards.

Lol.
Scotland score two goals from two free kicks within a minute or so of eachother.
England well in control for most of the game and are going to lose 2-1.

Double lol.
Kane scores in the third minute of injury time.
Lovely cross by Sterling.

Had to laugh at the Scottish commentator complaining of a sucker punch when Kane equalised. This is after Scotland showed very little bar an energetic opening spell. They then do very little for the majority of the match and score 2 goals through free kicks very late in the game.
I'm pretty sure England would have more cause to complain of a sucker punch had Scotland won.

Of course they would. You don't really expect a Scottish commentator to keep a strictly neutral line, in a Scotland v England game, do you?WaspInWales wrote:Had to laugh at the Scottish commentator complaining of a sucker punch when Kane equalised. In any case, it was a stupid error from Scotland that gave away that goal. In the breakout, if the pass had been to the free player on the left instead of the slack pass to the right, it would have been all over at 2-1. Clinically fininshes by England for the draw.

That game sort of summed up why I loved football. I was texting back and forth with my scottish mate and he went through the entire range of emotions. It was pretty funny actually. Obviously it is scotland vs england but in the qualifying terms it was a bit meaningless for england (and they sort of played like it).

Now that's a nice goal!
Well played Alli, Sterling, Bertrand and Kane.

Disappointing result, especially against 10 men for almost an entire half, but France were the better team by some distance.
Same as the Scotland game, too many poor passes from England. Technically outclassed by France.
Nice to see Kane score at this level. Qualifier against Scotland and friendly against France may not be the sternest of tests, but it's a start and 3 goals in 2 games is an excellent return. Not sure he is captain material though.

The problem is midfield. We've played Dier and Livermore, and now Dier and AOC there. That's not up to snuff in international football.WaspInWales wrote:Disappointing result, especially against 10 men for almost an entire half, but France were the better team by some distance.
