Guys often carry am injury for a good while before having work done. Sometimes to avoid disruption, other times as it could heal itself. Must have decided it wouldn't and what with being out already they may as well get him squared away.

Yeah I know but going by the 4-6 month rehab time I would imagine it's that long due to the shoulder op as facial fractures (rather than breaks) seem to heal in <4months or so. Russell was back in 4ish.

If that was a known issues strange from a risk POV that they didn't recruit an additional full back. Even with Tigve available it would be a risk. Still time though. Can Yanawawa the dev player or Nairn play there?

Tagive lots of potential but unproven even at pro 12 level. Not exactly a proven performer.

Masaga has played there but I wonder if Edinburgh might loan Bryce or Graham for a month or two...

I wouldn't play Nairn there even if the alternative was a prop.

Aye he's not ready.

The coaching staff must have had an idea who would be 3rd full back if needed, I'm just speculating. May even be Horne Snr

That wouldn't be the worst idea ever, he's a very good footballer & seems a sensible way to get him into the team with Dunbar & Jones likely to start at centre.

Mud hie still doesn't have a team right? Some short term cover? Other obvious options would seem to be Horne (didn't he play u20s at full-back) or Seymour. Is Schulte still tied to Glasgow and could he cover? Looking at the epd's they seem to mostly be forwards.

Alternatively is the anyone in prem1 that has played well and deserves a shot to see if they can mix it in the pros? Whatever happened to the godsmarks or Jamie Fleming?

I only skimmed it and read it as his facial injury and shoulder were operated on.

Thomson 2 year deal. Would be nice to get confirmation from Weeg that he's definitely tied to SA.

Perhaps this has already been discussed, but my god Callum Gibbins looks like a good signing. He's on a tear recently.

Today's rumour. Jonny has been visiting big Bro in Toulouse and the rumour mill has turned it into he is moving to Toulouse at the end of the season.

Or the media are right. He's definitely been in Toulouse though.

Doubt there's much in that. Family living in places like that always makes for a great excuse for a wee holiday.

I imagine so.

Touring the club facilities will always get the rumour mill up and running and you can forgive the Toulouse fans getting ideas.

Toulouse are worse run than I thought if they think its smart to have their first choice lock pairing will be away to another country on international duty for a third of the season.

Sort of Glasgow-relevant. Chiefs wining 9-3 in Cape Town at the moment. If the Stormers win, Dave rennie's over soon. If not, he stays on in Hamilton for another week.

Kolisi just scored, which is annoying, as I bet on de Allende first try instead of him. Ah, well.

Conversion missed, Chiefs lead 9-8, most of the second half to go.

Kebble on for Stormers. Not a small boy.

12-11 Chiefs, 62 gone.

Kebble wins a scrum pen. Good stuff.

Finlay Christie still on bench for Chiefs and likely to stay there, I would venture.

Still 12-11, ten left...

Rennie's staying in New Zealand for another week, Kebble and others coming north now.
