Whilst Hodgy has had plenty of opportunity he's probably got the weakest set of backs in the Pro14 to play with, bar Zebre and the Kings.

On twitter someone overhead cockers say the reffing is a f&&eking joke. I tend to agree.
Edinburgh are definitely on the way up but Davis was harsh to Edinburgh , not sure how dragging someone at a ruck by the neck isn't a yellow card though.

Re: 1872 Cup Runners Up
I thought the ref had a really good game. Showed a lot of sympathy for the game, don't agree with disallowing our try, but that happens from time to time.
Honest to god, when I saw that backline the first time, I thought we were on a hiding to nothing, but they played really well, defended superbly and were unlucky to not get a losing bonus point. That's a stacked Leinster team, and Edinburgh gave them all they wanted.
Can't recall seeing Johnstone before, but he looks handy in attack. Thought Bryce had a very good game, the scrum was rock solid, and Ritchie is continuing a fine vein of form, yellow aside.
Cockerill is clearly evaluating everyone, which is fair, and he's got the boys playing for him, so there's a lot of positives to take.

My first reaction for the non-try was that the big tough Lenister look went over far too easily and bought it. On repeat viewing I'm not so sure but not convinced either way.

16 - 15 to the mighty Embra. A crushing defeat of a Zebra.

Embers really need to develop an attacking game.

Tonights game was all about the win. Zebre had a couple if decent wins recently and Edinburgh have lost a few. A BP win wouldn't hide deficiencies but a loss would have put pressure on even more.Edinburgh in Exile wrote:Shut your whore mouth Java, we scored an emphatic 16 points tonight.whatisthejava wrote:Embers really need to develop an attacking game.
Attacking game that isn't relying on individuals won't come until go until Hodge gets his jotters.

I reckon several other Scottish coaches even from the premiership could get more out the backs/attack.

Re: 1872 Cup Runners Up
First time at Myreside last night. A few thoughts:
Weird atmosphere. It’s just so...quiet. Admittedly product on show last night wasn’t great
Nel is struggling this year. Scrum improved when the prop-on-wheels Berghan came on and again when Alan Dell was introduced
Zebre play a nice brand of rugby - zip the ball around - even if they were offside all night.
Embra half-backs poor. Fowles confuses me and Weir just doesn’t understand rugby. Given all his experience, it’s annoying to see him insisting on throwing ridiculous miss passes.
Hope James Johnstone OK. Looked out cold and quite an upsetting reaction when he came round.

To be fair to Berghan his scrummaging has been decent this year. Was good v Leinster last week.

Just reading Cockerill's comments on referreeing. Don't think he's completely wrong but I think it os worrying that he is whining like this already. It just feeds into a culture of excuses.
The big worry is the lack of an attack and that has been the case for a good while now.

Just seen Enbra team but can’t post. Think they stand a decent chance of a win, as LI playing a lot of youngsters. They also have a replacement named “T Smallbone”, which is in no way amusing.
