Leaves all sorts of options. EJ could have have told Marler what he'd done wasn't acceptable, asked what Marler thought he should do next and glared at him until he headed off to the Wales dressing room to apologise, another member of the management staff could have discussed the matter with Marler, or another player could have discussed with Marler, an RFU official could have brought the matter up, and on and on. Maybe we'll find out, maybe we wont, but we certainly don't have a complete picture of what happened and what drove various incidents.

I'm pretty sure Marler will plead guilty and take a 4 week ban dropped down to 2. I think the whole process could be ripped to shreds but I can't see Marler, Quins or the RFU wanting to cause a shitstorm over this which would embarrass WR in the process, they'll just want it over. And tbh getting away from that match with a 2 week ban after trying to drop a forearm on a prone player leaves Marler a very lucky boy anyway.
There is video of the players going in at half time and Marler is talking to Lee as they come into the tunnel so not sure there would have been time for EJ to do that.

I'd still be stuck wondering why they'd suddenly reach into the hat and pull out a rabbit in this isolated instance. But I do tend to complain about more than praise just about everything anyway.
If it hadnt been caught on the mic I think it would have (wrongly considering what was said) just been let go.

Some of the articles Ive seen suggest that they are completely ignoring the 6N process. As much as I do think Marler deserved a ban for his comments, I seriously hope that if WR aren't happy with the 6N process, that the organization gets a massive boot up the posterior. All along they have given the impression of being totally behind the drag curve with this, and given the clear evidence and offense, its isn't rocket science to make a judgement that is consistent with the laws and is open to scrutiny afterwards.
Two routes forward for consistency, no ban for Marler, or a ban for Marler and a huge number of others. Or there's removing pikeys as a race I suppose.
Sounds like the blackadder/crone proposition,

"You have 3 choices, Kill youself"
"no"
"kill Bob?"
"Erm, and the third?"
"KILL EVERYONE ELSE IN THE WORLD ! "

Cracking read, Fellas. I jumped some pages and had to go back.
Calming divisions in society is important....but 3rd hand racism is a bit rubbish. Being offended on someone else's behalf..?. Meh.
In situations like this shouldn't the recipients decision be the deciding say. It would make things so much simpler.

Nighty, put up your avatar...?. Please.

If it hadn't been caught on mike, then I think the decision would have been Lee's alone on whether to take it further. Effectively it would have been a private spat between the 2 players.

Its the public nature of this which means that the 6N had a duty to investigate and follow a proper process, which from the sound of it they failed to do.

I see that Pocock has managed to get off with a two match ban for his sleeper hold on Michael Leitch, how it was deemed to be low-end I don't know.

These are the words of the citing officer:

"With respect to the sanction I deemed the act of foul play merited a low-end entry point of two weeks. I then added one week for aggravation due to the need to deter this type of dangerous foul play.

"However, taking into account mitigating factors including the player's early plea, his good character, his genuine remorse and his excellent disciplinary record, I reduced the suspension to a period of two weeks."

What the fork has his good character got to do with it.

Offended that the process has not worked praps. Has anyone on here been personally offended? Or been offended on Lee's behalf?

Personally I don't care what players say to each other, personally the remark means nothing to me. But what I or you or anyone on here thinks matters not one jot, nor does it matter what Lee or Marler think that much either because (once again) the remark was picked up by a mic and sits in the public domain. It really is that simple.

Two international matches, or two club matches?

It'll be club matches now.

That seems appropriate, it's just a shame this wasn't dealt with as quickly as it should have been.

I wonder how many would have been 'offended' then. A crystal ball for the parallel universe would have been good to have.

Its done now mind, thank fook. Really bored of the whole thing TBH, how come travelers haven't started a national campaign to clean up the shoite they leave behind from one of their illegal camps as a show of their new status? Their a race, go tell the Welsh and English farmers along the A40 with crap they have to clean up every year, I'm sure they will be impressed.

When i read the brief i was quite disappointed with only a 2 match ban, but the sting of 20K must hurt someone that makes 300K

After tax that must be about 1 months wages he loses

Quite a serious blow to any individual

I doubt it will hurt him financially too much, I suspect the panel felt a bit sorry for marler, no one wants this hanging over them for so long and the 6N committee should have dealt with this properly. He also apologised and Lee was happy to let it go, so all in all it seems fair.

Gutted for the man. Will he ever recover from this financial blow?

Hopefully this embarrassment will mean that the 6N will clean up its act.... but what are the chances?

Whilst much of the media coverage has been about the player, I do hope that WR has had a chat, formally, with the 6N and told them to sort this out. Their lack of process has led to this embarrassment.
