The Press are reporting that Zizzi is an Italian restaurant. Typical lazy journalism.

Re: Novichok 2.0
When you’ve annexed Crimea, part invaded Ukraine and shot down a passenger plane, poisoning a handful of people in Salisbury probably seems like a joke.
Before any whatabouters come on and wibble on about Saudi dropping UK made bombs on civilians.....I don’t condone that, either

Re: Novichok 2.0
I have said it before on this very thread - and I shall say it again - Woodhenge is the most significant archeological site in the area. It simply beggars belief that anyone would make their way all the way from Russia to the UK for a long weekend in March taking two day-trips out to Salisbury for the purposes of visiting Stonehenge, Old Sarum and the Cathedral without putting Woodhenge on their itinerary.
Russia is making a mockery of the tourism attractions of Wiltshire and the West.

So I watched the whole thing on RT...
They just come across so damn guilty, but as spies? Hard to judge. Some aspects of their story make me wonder if they are a gay couple. They are defensive about certain details.

I suppose it would be too much to expect an afternoon taking in the delights of Wookey hole or Cheddar Gorge ffsSerjeantWildgoose wrote:I have said it before on this very thread - and I shall say it again - Woodhenge is the most significant archeological site in the area. Who cares if they're gay? Or is that the Kevin Spacey defence again, that they may have acted miles beyond acceptable norms but don't hold it against them because of their sexualityZhivago wrote:So I watched the whole thing on RT...

As claims go it has less foundation than Salisbury Cathedral

It was so much easier to blame Them. It was bleakly depressing to think They were Us. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

Re: Novichok 2.0
Anyway the verdict from my wife and her sister both Ukrainian is that they are clearly both idiots. They didn't think they were gay actually, thought the one was an alcoholic... Most probable conclusion being that they were set up to do this thing, or that they are purposefully a distraction while the real killers slipped through the net.Digby wrote:Who cares if they're gay? I was a little suspicious about the news as it broke, hence the thread and its general distrust of the information that was delivered to us. However, after seeing those clowns on RT, and the way Russia have reacted to the evidence against said clowns, I'm in no doubt about Russian involvement.

Re: Novichok 2.0
I'd certainly agree they were set up to do this, in the sense they were issued false identities, novichok and orders to carry out an assassination. It seems improbable in the extreme the inclination and resources came from the two men identified

Indeed. The sequential numbering of the passports is very odd as well.WaspInWales wrote:I was a little suspicious about the news as it broke, hence the thread and its general distrust of the information that was delivered to us. Re: Novichok 2.0
I'd accept maybe two friends going abroad for the first time going to the passport office together and getting sequentially numbered passports, but leaving Russia for the first time and deciding to visit Salisbury from anywhere in the world is beyond weird, choosing not to look around London is beyond beggaring belief, and finding oneself on the opposite side of Salisbury if leaving the train station to visit the Cathedral outside the Skripals house is almost starting to look suspiciousSandydragon wrote:Indeed. If they hadn't put four people in hospital and killed another it'd probably be something to laugh at, it's still actually somewhat funny whilst being tempered by being so sickening

Just a stunning revelation that the innocent Russian tourists have careers in the military under different names, not even Cassandra saw that one coming

They have mandatory conscription in Russia. Doh!
If they're good enough to play at World Cups, why not in between?

Congratulations on identifying a couple of gay steroid dealers who changed their names because their business was obviously not legal
Oh, but they served in the military - in a country where that's actually required

Re: Novichok 2.0
I wouldn't bother, the investigative team behind the latest have previously shown Assad being behind attacks on his own people or the Russians being responsible for shooting down a civilian plane. Consequently the window lickers who've quadrupled down on supporting Russia and Syria even when they're demonstrably in the wrong are highly unlikely to post with any sense of basic common decency nowPuja wrote:And mandatory promotion to Colonel and mandatory times in special forces and mandatory medal ceremonies and receptions with Putin?rowan wrote:They have mandatory conscription in Russia. Re: Novichok 2.0
International inspectors disproved claims of chemical weapons being used in Douma. Nobody knows who shot down the plane over Ukraine.
As a neutral I'd be more inclined to believe the Syrians and Russians than the Americans and British, for example, given the latter two countries lied through their teeth before invading Iraq with no legal authority, leading to the deaths of at least a million people and quite possibly twice that many. & that's just the tip of the iceberg, of course.
While the U.S. Department of Defense maintains that its massive biological research programs are meant to counter and defend against new biological weapons being developed, they are in fact developing bio-weapons in the process.
