Novichok 2.0
What we thinking then?
The Ruskies got careless amid the Skripal case and managed to leave some of the deadliest nerve agent known to man lying around a few miles from where they were accused of attacking a former agent and his daughter?
Said nerve agent has again managed to only affect two people.
Either Novichok's abilities are massively overstated, or the Ruskies have truly pinpointed how best to use it...or something else?
Porton Down is around the corner though, right?
Yes, but Russia is a few thousand miles away.
Hmmm, but Boots the Chemist, ohh and a church!

What he fails to realise is that Larkhill and Durrington are just as ridiculously close to Stonehenge, with the added advantage of not having to cross the busy A303. With Larkhill full of Gunners and Durrington full of unemployed knuckle-draggers it is obvious that these things are all linked.
In fact anyone who knows his henges will tell you that Woodhenge is the more archeologically significant site and that it and the Countess Services are irrefutable evidence of a prehistoric invasion of the earth by aliens who breathe pig slurry and piss Novichok.

For me there are question marks around how it stayed potent after so much time.

The only scenario that is believable is that these people are homeless drug addicts and they accidentally found and used a syringe that was used by the person who originally administered novichok.

Maybe this latest couple are the double, double, double agents that Russia used to deliver the first attack?
Perhaps they were preparing for a picnic in idyllic rural Wiltshire to enjoy the heatwave. They made some beat and radish sarnies, brewed up some borscht and packed their favourite brand of Vodka (flown over especially from the motherland)...then they made the rookie error of mistaking the bottled Novichok in a spray bottle for the suncream.
Can happen to anyone I suppose.

A syringe? A nerve agent was administered with a syringe?

I'm not running with any supposed scenario, I don't know the people nor remotely enough about the science to make a reasonable guess.

I suspect the Russian agent used a poison tipped dagger that came out of the sole of their shoe. When MI6 retaliate, I’d guess they’ll use a poison tipped umbrella.

The scuttle is that the agent was introduced into the lock of the Scripals’ door by using a needle and syringe. The Scripals then picked up their dose via the contaminated key.
Having gone to that sort of trouble to ensure that the stuff was delivered to a point which was only ever likely to expose the intended target you would have thought they would have taken the utmost care in disposing of the syringe? But maybe they didn’t bank on Amesbury’s resident fag-butt sweepers.

It was so much easier to blame Them. It was bleakly depressing to think They were Us. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

It's not just the proximity of Porton Down that is suspicious...but the fact that Gavin Williamson upped their budget by £20 million just 5 days after the Skripal story kicked off. Without the poisoning I wonder what the public reaction to upping the budget would have been.
Characterising these two new cases as homeless junkies seems bloody suspect as well.

I think it was outrageous of Zhivago to label these people as homeless junkies. They've got a home.

I saw a news report that said 'neighbours claimed they were notorious for picking up cigarette butts off the street'.
You'd have to be high on the psychopathic spectrum to write that sort of shit.
And yet our friendly neighbourhood double-agents are bloody heroes.

BBC reporting that the source container has been found in the couple's home. So much for needing to mix precursors, turns out (surprising no one except half wit conspiracy nuts) that novichok lasts perfectly well in a sealed container and doesnt need to be created on site, it can be transported from, say, Russia without any problems at all.

1) how does this found bottle rule out precursors?Donny osmond wrote:BBC reporting that the source container has been found in the couple's home. 2. Didn't say it did, just that its possible
3. Didn't say it did, just that it doesn't have to have been created on site, which again undermines all the conspiracy bullshit.
3/3 on the strawmen tho, which is fine work

Likely scenario: small medical-style bottle used to mix Novichok precursors then syringe used to apply to key through keyhole. Bottle etc dumped afterwards. Drug addict(s) find bottle, think it is methadone or similar and take it home to get high.
Note: no indication of source of agent as yet.

Re: Novichok 2.0
Why would you need these mythical precursors to activate an acetylcholinesterase inhibitor? It is stable, non-flammable, and is not an oxidizer. Check out galantamine for a near as lookylikey. The MRS fingerprint is telling, so why this "I stumbled across it while looking for the white horse casually discarded on the street" nonsense? If someone has the source material then they are intimate with the source. I mean, fuck.

Novichok is documented as being a binary weapon which means that the purpose of using precursors is to allow for safer transportation.morepork wrote:Why would you need these mythical precursors to activate an acetylcholinesterase inhibitor? Indeed, now that the investigators have found the source, it would be a lot more credible if they were to id it to Russia (at least compared to before when they had no real proof, only suspicion).
