They have an outstanding first choice partnership in DDA and Am and *potentially* Esterhuizen. After that seems to me like there’s an enormous drop off.

The back up 12 and 13 cover a variety of other positions which is why I think they tend to make the squad as opposed to Big Andre. Frans Steyn covers fullback and also at a push 10 with his big kicking game. Jesse Kriel can slot in at wing and fullback.

Frans Steyn can't have much longer left in the tank at 34 though.

The more important question is whether it's been >3 years since his last Springbok cap and does he have an English grandparent somewhere?
