Brutal, but it'll put the wind up anyone else who's not been putting the work in.

Lots of comments on the fail that it’s been handled badly, but dropping him with no public reason would have been criticised too. Carre has been warned before about his weight and performance but not responded. He would do well to leave Welsh rugby and go somewhere where he would be pushed harder to meet standards.

He can do good things on the field, but I noted too many instances of him watching rather than doing in the six nations and this does send a huge message

If Carre's weight was making him an exceptional scrummager things might be different. But it's not that much of an asset for him.

At some time the potential he no doubt posses needs to be delivered for him to kick on. There are some glimpses of what could be, but for me not csistently enough in a Wales shirt. I really wish this was not the case, but unless it changes in a positive manner I fear that unfulfilled potential will just remain just that.

Shame for your lot that Saracens got caught for salary cap cheating. If they hadn't, he'd've stayed there, having to fight for his place and with some fairly hard taskmasters in the coaching department, which would've been the making of him IMO. As it was, he went back to be first choice at Cardiff and got to rest on his laurels.

Basically, yes. He has some great moments in a match but doesn’t repeat them too often. He’s like Adam Jones was at the beginning of his career except Jones got himself in shape.

Agreed re Saracens, I wished at the time that he could have stayed. That said, Sam Wainwright wasn’t exactly svelte when he joined the Scarlets.

I also wouldn’t have minded Teddy Williams going to Exeter, as was rumoured, prior to the change in Welsh qualification rules. Might have formed a club partnership with Dafydd Jenkins in a year or two.
