Point of English: making the post above I realised that I was slightly hazy about the distinction between systematic and systemic, about how much overlap there was between the two terms. So, to be clear, since I've got it clear in my head , they have completely distinct meanings.

Systemic means relating to a whole system, eg when something is true or appears throughout a system.
Systematic means done using a system, with a plan, a method.
So sometimes both terms apply, sometimes one or the other, or neither.
