You don't think this could be entertaining?

There was no need to change it. In the last few years we have seen some exciting games, especially on the last day without BPs.
A team that wins no games could finish higher than a team that wins 2. In a 5 gameweek competition it isn't needed.

Nope, traditional rivalries are exciting enough for me. There was fuck all wrong with the tournament. It will also turn it in to a total whinge fest.

Actually I hadn't considered the impact on those incredible final days we've had recently.

The only positive is that it's a trial. I hope it falls flat on it's arse.

Disagree, I think its been ridiculously unfair that some teams have lost some matches by 1 - 2 and then finished below teams that have scraped one win and been pumped left right and centre
The downside is it may make the last weekend boring as the team may well win it the weekend before but that occasionally happens in the current format
May have an interesting side note that teams don't play weakened teams against the Italians as they will all want 4 tries

I agree with your last statement. Italy may well be in for a torrid time this coming Spring.whatisthejava wrote:Disagree, I think its been ridiculously unfair that some teams have lost some matches by 1 - 2 and then finished below teams that have scraped one win and been pumped left right and centre

I don't really see the need for it, and I'm curious as to what other unintended consequences we're going to see.

I think this may well move us closer to relegation also, Once Parisse goes for Italy I am struggling to see where they could get a win until we or Wales go full on shit

I think it's fine as a trial. Dont imagine itl make a great difference in a five game tournament to be honest

I really wished I could be bothered to go back and work it out if it would have changed anything but I know if I wait someone will do it for me

If Scotland lose all their matches by 1-2 pts and get beaten by Italy, who have been pumped in the rest of theirs, Scotland deserve to be bottom.whatisthejava wrote:Disagree, I think its been ridiculously unfair that some teams have lost some matches by 1 - 2 and then finished below teams that have scraped one win and been pumped left right and centre

Not sure that I'm in favour. Conditions still play a huge role in rugby and one of the nice things about the 6N is that to win it you generally have to be able to play in all weather. It would seem a bit of a hollow victory if you got 4 wins out of 5 but ran in bonus points in good weather on the last day whilst your rivals played in boggy conditions in murryfield.

No more hollow than if it was on points difference thoughswitchskier wrote:Not sure that I'm in favour. Pointless crap. Next!
It was so much easier to blame Them. It was bleakly depressing to think They were Us. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

It is actually possible to score tries while it's raining....

Whilst I don't ever want to finish bottom, when it occasionally happens, I find it difficult come the last week of matches to particularly give a toss whether we win or lose. 5th is still a pile of crap. Can't ever imagine myself desperately hoping for at least a bonus point so we scrape into 5th above Italy.
If they introduced promotion and relegation, however, it would be a different story.

Relegation scares me. Too scary. But I think the idea of a play-off between the bottom of the 6N and the winner of the second division might do the trick.General Zod wrote:Whilst I don't ever want to finish bottom, when it occasionally happens, I find it difficult come the last week of matches to particularly give a toss whether we win or lose. 5th is still a pile of crap. Problem with relegation is friends have long standing relationships and to be honest even a lackluster Italy could walk the 6N B.
Any team apart from France or Ireland would be utterly screwed unless they got a parachute payment of millions.

That whole "Having a championship" thing must get in the way terribly for you.Chunks Baws wrote:Mikey Brown wrote:You don't think this could be entertaining?
