If true then Cricket and Darts are the most interesting and popular sports in the world.hellovating wrote:also, they say bonus points keep the spectators / tv viewers interested until the final whistle. if that ain't dumbing down the product, i don't know what is.
It's better than points difference.hellovating wrote:thumbs down from me.... never understood the logic that more tries = more entertainment. give me a tightly fought 9-6 in the driving rain any day over no defence, you score / we score.
i love when the european cup and world cups reach the play offs and winning becomes the only measure of success.
cashead, why isn't enterprising defensive play rewarded? keep a team tryless, win a bonus point? why is only attacking enterprising play rewarded?
also, there is a direct correlation between more bonus points and a) playing at home and b) good weather. the 6 nations has an unequal number of home / away games and well, there are no songs about anyone loving Dublin in the springtime.
True. It is. Can we not go back to sharing championships?Eugene Wrayburn wrote:It's better than points difference.hellovating wrote:thumbs down from me.... never understood the logic that more tries = more entertainment. give me a tightly fought 9-6 in the driving rain any day over no defence, you score / we score.

Not sure this really is about increasing revenues, they may increase but not because of this. It feels more like they've had changes in front of them to bring in promotion/relegation, to move the tournament window, and not wanting to do those felt they should make some change, any change.BBD wrote:Ding ding ding
We have a winner! It's all about expanding the market and increasing revenue
I'll take that sort of rugby just to avoid the wooden spoon.SerjeantWildgoose wrote:So what about the team that builds on an impregnable defence to the exclusion of attack, beats everyone else by a couple of penalties and grinds its way to the most tedious of grand slams - and championship by virtue of the 3 BPs?
Yep, enterprising R*gby all the fecking way!
